Job Description

About the company: The company has been providing industry leading transportation services for more than 50 years. From what started out as an LTL over the road intermodal carrier, the company has grown into a diverse group of companies operating out of 30 terminals and final mile hubs across Canada and into the USA. Our client is seeking a General/Logistics Manager to lead the overall logistics operations for 4 branches in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Chicago. You will be responsible for growing business and ensuring smooth operations across all branches.


Type: Permanent, Full-time


Key Responsibilities

  • Train, develop and mentor all operational staff to ensure continuous development and improvement towards the customer experience
  • Liaise with sales and procurement to operationalize solutions
  • Build a strong operations team to continue revenue growth year over year
  • Develop strategies for continuous improvement and sustainable structure for things such as opening a new location
  • Promote a motivating and collaborative environment, through the application of team building and excellent communication practices.
  • Development and implement strategies that will increase revenue growth, and decrease churn of accounts while capitalizing on efficiencies
  • Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices
  • Responsible for ensuring division achieves or exceeds yearly budget


Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient use of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other computer applications as required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational background or experience
  • Must have ability to inject business through customer relationships
  • Must know domestic Canada and cross border spot and contract market for all modes of transportation
  • Strong self-discipline and initiative ability
  • Effective organizational skills, planning and prioritization skills
  • Seven to ten (7 to 10) years experience with a large non asset-based logistics company
  • Must have carrier base and relationships to be able to price and win freight via spot quote or dedicated opportunities for TL, Road, Rail, and Air
