Our client is a financial institution based in downtown Toronto. They are seeking a strong candidate for Head of AML Reporting (1-year contract)
This role is hybrid in their Toronto downtown office.
Head of AML Reporting

• Remaining current on operational alerts, evolving AML risks, to initiate adjustments/fine tuning to red flags/high risk triggers used in ongoing monitoring for reporting purposes
• The person needs at least 5-8 years in AML showing progressive growth from investigator (KYC and Transaction Monitoring) to moving into management on the AML reporting
• The governance and oversight of all AML activities for the purposes of tracking performance and maintaining metrics to support it (e.g., volume of alerts, production ratios (false positives, # escalated, speed, backlog, etc.)
• Reviewing/assessing appropriateness of STRs for purpose of approving prior to submission
• The person will be responsible for all AML reporting – to the regulator and internally to management. Activities include:
• Ownership of controls related to reporting, including oversight over data integrity
• Oversight/input of the firm’s AML risk assessment (business & relationships )
• Ownership of P& P related to AML reporting (e.g. policies on reasonable grounds to suspect, red flags/High Risk triggers, etc.)

Requirements
Requirements:

• 8+ years of global experience and leadership in managing AML risk and compliance issues within a regulated business and implementing compliance programs
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively and work collaboratively with individuals at senior management levels
• Professional certification (e.g. CFA, MBA, CAMS, CFCS, FIS, CFE, CCEP, CCFC, CRC, CBP and CCI)
• Banking, financial services industry experience is required
• Knowledge of banking and/or securities laws is a plus
• Expert knowledge about the industry practices and professional standards in relation to AML regulations, and experience with regulators
• Expert knowledge of legislation and regulation relating to AML
