Job Description


Bimbo Canada is a market leading producer and distributor of packaged fresh bread, bakery and snacking products with brands such as Dempster’s®, Villaggio®, POM®, Bon Matin®, Ben’s®, Stonemill,® McGavins,® Orowheat®, Vachon® and Takis®. The company operates 16 bakeries and employs approximately 4,200 associates across Canada. This position can be remote anywhere in Canada.


About The Role


As the Government Relations (GR) Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Bimbo Canada’s journey to Nourish A Better World. You will be responsible for fostering positive relationships with policymakers, staying informed of current and emerging issues in government and industry, pursuing funding opportunities and developing plans to support/address key changes that impact the organization.


Beyond external relationship building, the nature of this role will require you to collaborate with associates in multiple functions and at various levels of the organization, both locally and in our global office, so we will look to you to build relationships and identify opportunities for success.


This role is part of a small and evolving team, and requires a blend of critical thinking, project management, written communication capability, ability to work independently and strong interpersonal skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in and deepen relationships with policymakers

  • Secure meetings with policymakers to influence relevant policies
  • Policy and Regulatory Impact
  • Educate government officials about Bimbo Canada's role and impact in the Canadian economy
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, collaborating with funding partners
  • Engagement and Communication
  • Distribute timely regulatory updates to internal stakeholders
  • Develop advocacy plans based on issues analysis
  • Track progress of all GR initiatives and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the progress and outcomes of GR initiatives
  • Craft impactful positioning statements and action plans for key issues

Job Requirements


Experience and Qualifications:


  • Must be bilingual in English and French; Spanish is an asset
  • Experience in the CPG or food industry an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Communications or related discipline
  • Strong government and public relations acumen, including deep knowledge of various levels of government
  • Minimum 3to 5 years' experience in a related role, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
