Job Summary

We are seeking a Crisis Communication Coordinator to join the Media Monitoring & Coordination Division of Media & Executive Comms Department. Media & Exec Comms Dept. is the trusted front-line strategic communications Dept. for corporate-level media helping to position the company as the world's leading integrated energy and chemicals producer. The Crisis Communication Coordinator's primary role is to support Media & Executive Comms Department in executing and monitoring communication strategies, managing the crisis communications manual and procedures, and to promptly assemble into the Emergency Message Board System in the event of a crisis incident.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional support and advice on crisis media issues to senior leaders in the organization.
  • Support the company's crisis communications activities, crisis preparedness, and media handling during crisis incidents.
  • Attend relevant events, providing support required, and ensuring accountability reporting on outcomes of attendance and participation at such events where appropriate.
  • Leverage available enterprise data and research (e.g., corporate reputation tracking data and stakeholder insights) to inform future communication strategies, content creation, and engagement.
  • Update the Crisis Communications Manual on a monthly basis, gain approval, and prepare copies for management on a quarterly basis.
  • Deliver consistent results to an exceptional and consistent standard.
  • Ensure communication strategies and plans are fully aligned and integrated with the overall Corporate Strategy.
  • Support Corporate Communication strategic initiatives by developing, maintaining, and testing plans.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives within a busy media team.
  • Ensure that the Communications Response Center is running and updated with current technology and equipment.
  • Conduct weekly video conference testing in collaboration with other functions.
  • Assist business lines with their Crisis Communications manuals & training requirements.
  • Develop KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of crisis communications strategies.
  • Prepare communications as needed during an incident or threat to the Company's brand.
  • Respond to incidents or issues that have the potential to damage the company's reputation.

Requirements:

  • The candidate must have experience in developing crisis communication strategies.
  • The candidate should have experience developing online content.
  • The candidate should have experience using an enterprise content management system and managing content for a heavy traffic website (Enterprise level CMS like Adobe AEM, Sitecore, Optimizely).
  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
  • The candidate should have proven experience of media handling in crisis situations, with a consistent ability to respond calmly and with confidence in a fast-paced environment.
  • The candidate should have experience in emergency response/crisis management development.
  • The candidate should have a strong background in media relations and serving as spokesperson.
  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate understanding of national and international issues and how they can affect the industry.
  • The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized and approved program in the fields of Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Crisis Management, or related field.
  • The candidate should have 15 years of experience in Public Relations and Media Relations, gained from either agency and/or in-house corporate setting, ideally in the energy, oil and gas sector, and at least three years in crisis communication.
  • The candidate must be a native English speaker, with excellent English writing and presentation skills.
  • The candidate should have excellent leadership experience in crisis communication.
  • The candidate should be able to lead monthly crisis communication training and drills.
  • The candidate should be able to identify, assess, and act against communication & reputation issues.
