Job Description
Job Overview


Under the direction of Poker House/Pit Boss, the Poker Dealer is responsible for dealing cards to guests in accordance with AGLC Terms and Conditions while providing excellent customer service. Maintaining our CORE values is essential for this position. The Poker Dealer is critical in the success of our business and maintaining a professional manner at all times.


Responsibilities And Duties


  • Promote and maintain the highest levels of integrity and customer service.
  • Ensure outstanding guest service by responding promptly to guest needs and requests for service.
  • Monitor chips and cash and ensure the integrity of the game.
  • Be a great team player and exemplify outstanding guest service, to both internal as well as external guests.
  • Ensure compliance with AGLC policies.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
  • Welcome guests to the table and deal cards as per AGLC Terms and Conditions.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Every team member will follow and support the Core Values, of the ownership company.
  • Observe problematic guest behaviors and report to the House/Pit Boss as required.
  • Develop and cultivate strong working relationships with guests, ownership, employees, the AGLC and the community and charitable organizations.
  • Respond to guest issues and escalate as required.


Education And Experience


  • Deal us in Phase 2, and ProServe certification are an asset.
  • Minimum of high school education or suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Current AGLC registration gaming license, or ability to successfully become a registered gaming worker, which includes a criminal background check.
  • AML Certification, Deal us in Phase 1 with AGLC.
  • Minimum six (6) months of poker dealing experience, preferred.


Skills And Abilities


  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organized, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability recognize signs of collusion or team play, angling, obvious misinterpretation or manipulation of the house rules, etc.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to maintain professionalism and a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and treat others with respect regardless of their status or position.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to approach situations in a tactful manner.
  • Knowledge and ability to clearly explain operating house rules to guests and employees.
  • Ability to speak English is mandatory. Ability to fluently speak additional languages is an asset.
  • Knowledge of gaming controls.
  • Strong willingness to learn about guest needs and wants.
  • Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including graveyards, weekends, and holidays. The hours of work will be based on operational needs.
  • Ability to maintain effective table control, in terms of both game speed and protecting the integrity of the game
  • Frequent standing, sitting and walking.
  • Accept responsibility for own actions.
  • Experience dealing with VIP or “high stakes” guests is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Alberta Casino Terms & Conditions and Operating Guidelines.
  • A passion for providing excellent service and full alignment with the organization’s vision.
  • Ability to maintain 20+ hands per hour
