Financial Analyst - Renewables

Reporting directly into the Vice President, Renewables this position will also work closely with the Project Managers supporting the renewables financial accounting and modelling. This individual will be a key member of the renewables team and will assist with process improvement and automation initiatives as well as ensure a robust financial management environment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the consolidated AR and AP sub ledger and liaise to resolve variances
• Review Renewables P&L and perform monthly and quarterly variance analysis
• Review Balance Sheet reconciliations prepared by US and Canadian projects for accuracy and completeness, and provide feedback to PM’s
• Prepare renewable updates for VP renewables, Director Finance and CFO, monthly
• Support in preparation of renewables budgets and forecasts
• Prepare monthly special project schedule, conduct ad hoc financial analysis, and/or other assignments as delegated by management
• Assist with internal audit requests, and external quarterly review and annual audit
• Prepare monthly renewables balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring transactions are in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Actively participate in the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close process, assisting with financial notes preparation
• Review consolidated intercompany reconciliation and coordinate with Business Units to resolve discrepancies

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

• Experience working in a large organization with a SOX control environment, strong IFRS knowledge
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and ability to effectively convey information to various levels of the organization in a clear and concise manner
• 5+ years of progressive work experience in Finance, with a preference for candidates holding CPA designation or working towards CPA
• Ability and flexibility to close on a tight schedule in a fast paced highly acquisitive company
• University Degree or College Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field of study
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members from many different departments with competing priorities
• Problem solver with strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines
• Working knowledge of Great Plains, Cognos and Blackline would be an asset
• Intermediate to Advanced level proficiency with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
