Karman Line Acceleration (KLA) is a Educational Not-for-Profit that works with high potential immigrant entrepreneurs, investors and job seekers to help create their own opportunities in Canada. KLA runs two programs - one for job seekers (Canada Skills Development Program) and one for entrepreneurs (Entrepreneurial Development Program) where students learn about the Canadian economy, how to strive in Canadian culture and more! KLA is dedicated to academic quality, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

As a young institution, KLA is aspirational and ready to become a Designated Learning Institute in Canada. We are seeking an Executive Director (Education) who will play a vital in building KLA’s reputation for entrepreneurial and employment excellence and student experience. The Executive Director will be a highly regarded individual and play a ground-breaking role in Canadian higher education, leveraging KLA’s flexible, accessible delivery model, experiential learning to obtain accreditation and graduate entrepreneurs who can be at the forefront of developing Canada’s economy. Strong leadership will be needed to manage the development of an entrepreneurship-focused institution. As the Executive Director, you will be the CEO of Karman Line Acceleration. A successful candidate in this position will provide institutional leadership and oversight, develop and drive the mission, strategize and advance the program and institution and act as the chief advocate, the principal ambassador and the principal voice of the institution. It is expected that the Executive Director be passionate, growth-oriented, energetic and fast-paced.

What Will You Do

• Advises in matters of policy that serve the academic interests of the institution.
• Onboard staff to assist with the growth of Karman Line Acceleration.
• Initiate the process of making Karman Line Acceleration a Designated Learning Institute.
• Ensure student happiness and success by constantly aligning the goal with the curriculum output.
• Create the planning guidelines, planning submissions, working to ensure academic plans are in place and up-to-date, advising throughout the year on any in-year changes to faculty plans arising from unforeseen events or opportunities.
• Onboard award-winning faculty, advisors, mentors, etc.
• Consolidate KLA’s Academic Planning and budgeting.
• Develop new curriculum against the Canadian standards required for the Designated Learning Institute Status

What You Bring To The Role

• Establishing an educational startup would be an asset.
• Demonstrated record of successful academic administrative leadership in the public or private university system
• Always purposeful, you will use your strategic acumen, pragmatism, and collaborative approach to align effective structures, processes, and culture with KLA’s exciting strategic priorities.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada with requiring sponsorship.
• Be a champion of equity, diversity, inclusion, justice, and reconciliation, and a builder of robust teams and relationships that will strengthen KLA’s standing in the startup and higher education ecosystems, offerings, and accreditations, creating transforma­tional impact at all levels.
• At least 5 years of experience in a Post-secondary environment, would be an asset.
• Experience as a Professor, previous University President, Provost, Vice-Provost, Academic Dean is considered an asset.
• Be attracted to the opportunity to develop a Designated Learning Institute that combines academic excellence with entrepreneurial insight.
• Experience in the process of establishing a DLI is considered a very strong asset.
• Degree from an accredited university in Education or Administration. Master's preferred.
