Engineering Student - Culvert Inspector

Our Highways Roads and Bridges Group is looking for an Engineering Student – Culvert Inspector ready to join our Markham office for the summer (May – August) 2023 co-op term. In this role, you’ll be part of the bridge group team working on a culvert inspection assignment within the Region of York. GHD has been award a multiple year assignment from the Region to develop a non-structural culvert inspection program and inspect approximately 8,600 non-structural culverts. The successful candidates will be fully trained by industry experts in culvert inspections and all health and safety training will be provided.

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• Identifying deterioration in culverts
• Inspect and document the overall physical state of non- structural culverts
• Use of various hand tools
• Complete daily Health and Safety documentation
• Care of rental vehicle
• Input data captured in the field into a database onsite
• Attend and participate in team progress meetings

Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

• Excellent organization and time management skills;
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
• Full G driver’s license;
• Positive attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Minimum age of 21 years old in order to drive a rental vehicle;
