Job Description

Overview

As we move through a period of exciting transformation and organizational change, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) has an immediate opening for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead. Under the authority of the Professional Engineers Act, PEO licenses and governs over 91,500 licence and certificate holders and regulates the practice of professional engineering in Ontario. PEO’s mission is to regulate and advance the practice of engineering to protect the public interest. With a talented, multidisciplinary staff of over 100, PEO’s vision is to be a trusted leader in professional self-regulation.


Position Summary

In collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, the Director, Program Management Office will oversee the project management process and project delivery lifecycle to deliver evolving projects in the mid-to-long range. Responsibilities will include oversight for project governance, team leadership, tracking and monitoring, prioritization, communication, and quality controls.


Responsibilities


Leadership And Strategy

Develop a program management approach to support client needs in the areas of project and program delivery, knowledge exchange and change management.

Propose, establish and deliver on a strategic planning process and project governance structure.

Prioritize enterprise-wide programs aligned to business and operational objectives.

Develop strategies to ensure alignment and monitoring of project deliverables with business goals and sustained implementation of outcomes.

Promote an effective partnership culture by defining stakeholder roles, responsibilities and decision-making authorities.

Establish resource capacity planning, including capacity vs. demand, and identification of shortfall or excesses of resources.

Mentor and train a multi-disciplinary team ensuring efficient collaboration and communication among team members with high levels of customer satisfaction.

Champion project management standards and overall value throughout the organization through frequent communication and collaboration.

Program And Procurement Governance

Create alignment and deliver on projects aligning with business goals and objectives.

Manage intake requests for project/program management support and work closely with the business leads to determine priorities.

Works with business sponsors and stakeholders to define scope.

Accountable for project plans and deliverables, ensuring projects are on-time/on-budget.

Apply established practices in program and project management to promote internal efficiency and internal customer satisfaction.

Proactively identify and track project risk and develop mitigation plans to manage risk.

Develops KPIs, scorecards and management reports to report on progress, health of projects, status of milestones and deliverables across all programs.

Manages inter-team dependencies and resolves scheduling conflicts for activities that are performed by vendor teams and other internal teams.

Develops roadmaps for events and milestones that are scheduled over a planning period.

Knowledge, Change and Learning

  • Develop knowledge management and learning solutions for enterprise programs to meet the evolving needs of the organization and strategic business priorities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and research emerging practices, trends and innovation in knowledge management and learning approaches.
  • Mentor and lead other employees who are supporting knowledge management initiatives.
  • Drive end-to-end change management strategy, approach and plans to achieve desired results by ensuring change is understood, accepted and sustained.


Skills and Experience


We seek a strong business and strategic leader experienced in building a program management office. Skills and experience will include:

  • Strong managerial leadership skills with 3+ years of experience in people management experience
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management methodologies and experience in developing a program management approach and strategy
  • Expert knowledge of project controls, performance evaluation techniques, key metrics, data analysis and budgeting to monitor and report on program performance.
  • Proven experience as program director or other equivalent position with 7+ years of experience in project management

Skills include:

  • Excellent people management skills including team building, performance management, conflict management and talent management.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills with experience presenting and leading meetings with senior executives.
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management methodologies and experience in developing a program management approach and strategy.

Qualifications:

  • BSc/BA degree in management or a relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional Certification (from PMI) is highly preferred.
