JOB SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Director of the International Affairs and Best Practice Guidelines Centre (IABPG Centre) is to lead, direct, monitor, and evaluate the activities of the IABPG Centre in collaboration with and reporting to the RNAO CEO. The work of the IABPG Centre incorporates three integrated pillars:

  1. gold standard best practice guideline (BPG) development,
  2. internationally-renowned multilevel BPG implementation, and
  3. robust evaluation, incorporating qualitative data with quantitative approaches as captured by RNAO’s proprietary international data system of structure, process and outcome indicators.

The Director is responsible, working collaboratively with RNAO Associate Directors and project leads, to ensure all outputs of the IABPG Centre meet and surpass international standards. The Director is also responsible for overseeing professional development events, and for developing and procuring funding for innovative new initiatives and projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Management

  • Working with the CEO to continuously envision the next steps for RNAO’s internationally renowned BPG Program and its Best Practice Spotlight Organizations® (BPSO®) social movement of science.
  • Ensuring an integrated approach to all work undertaken by the IABPG Centre. Specifically:

  • BPG development (in partnership with Associate Directors)
  1. Ensuring rigorous, evidence-based, and leading-edge methodologies aligned with international standards for BPG development.
  2. Maintaining an ongoing guideline review and revision process for BPGs in an established schedule.
  3. Ensuring BPGs are developed and published per established timelines.
  4. Ensuring systematic reviews related to the BPGs are published in peer-reviewed journals.

  • BPG implementation and sustainability (in partnership with Associate Directors)
  1. Ensuring BPG dissemination is robust for all new and new-edition clinical and healthy work environment BPGs.
  2. Ensuring robust implementation science and social movement frameworks remain cutting edge and are integrated into all aspects of the IABPG work.
  3. Advance multilevel strategies for effective BPG uptake and sustainability at the individual, organizational and health system levels.
  4. Ensuring effective delivery of various BPG implementation programs and projects at the provincial, national and international levels.
  5. Coaching a selected set of Best Practice Spotlight Organizations® to keep abreast of real-time practice – provincially, nationally, and internationally – and to successfully align the BPSO program at scale.

  • Guideline evaluation (in partnership with lead scientist)
  1. Ensuring continuous development and enhancement of RNAO’s proprietary international data system – Nursing Quality Indicators for Reporting and Evaluation® (NQulRE®) – to deliver robust data quality, functionality, and reporting capabilities.
  2. Ensuring safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches.
  3. Ensuring system security.

  • Ensuring written progress reports to funders of all IABPG Centre projects and programs are submitted as per contractual agreements.
  • Determining, monitoring and managing budgets in partnership with RNAO’s CEO, Director of Finance and Administration, and Associate Directors for all aspects of the IABPG Centre, including related projects and programs, services and events.
