Overall Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities


We are in a dynamic market full of opportunity to support our customers deliver a more sustainable world. This position will be customer-facing and responsible for developing profitable new business to support the drive for low carbon energy and will act as an ambassador for Advisian and the Worley Group in the North American market helping to build brand awareness. As a Director of Business Development, you will assist in developing strategy and supporting the implementation by leading development initiatives across North America. You will support/develop proposals, value propositions, commercial approaches, and support other Account Leaders in pursuit of Environment and Water prospects. In this role you will supported by a team that provides high-quality, leading-edge sustainability solutions to our clients.


We are looking for a Director of Business Development to join our team preferably in Calgary, AB. This can be a remote-work opportunity, but the successful candidate will need to be available to commute when necessary for meetings and other market driven opportunities.


Purpose


We are looking for a Director, Business Development focused on environment and water consultancy to create differentiated solutions for our customers, deployed through trusting relationships cultivated and stewarded through this role. The Director, Business Development role is to actively seek new opportunities providing solutions to our customers in their environment and water concerns of new developments, on-going operations, diversification and energy transition needs. You will oversee a portfolio of assigned customers, develop new business from existing clients, and evaluate and build new customer opportunities. The Director, Business Development has responsibility for driving business growth through market intelligence, customer insights and an account management focus across the North American Region to support the Energy, Chemicals, and Resources Sectors. As an account manager you will develop, maintain, and enhance customer relationships through strategic insight, resulting in new contracts and added value for our customers. In this role, the Director, Business Development, will liaise with cross-functional internal teams to improve the entire customer experience and provide a line of sight for our customers into full Worley solutions across their entire asset requirements and lifecycles. As part the North America sales team, the Director, Business Development leverages know-how and capability from our global business to create solutions that are recognized for innovation, value creation and meeting the customer’s needs for the future, within a world where expectations are changing.


As a representative of our business, the Director, Business Development, aligns and lives our values in the marketplace in all interactions with our customers, partners and internal teams alike. A leader within in the sales team, they cultivate positive relationships with other sales and operations leaders and work alongside technology, delivery and functions to harness our potential.


Through an account management focus, you will remain active in the delivery and operations of the business through memberships of steering committees and other governance functions to assure we deliver on our commitments to enable repeat business. It is an expectation that you will be representing our consulting industry at recognized conferences.


Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading successful business development activities, including identifying, evaluating and recommending business opportunities to support customers’ environment and water needs.
  • Deliver individual and team sales financial goals / budgets and targets.
  • Directs efforts and activities in maintaining and improving relationships with customers and building relations with prospective customers.
  • Leverage Customer Success Platform (CSP) to manage accounts, opportunities and maximize the use of CSP throughout the Global Sales and Marketing process. Responsible for data integrity in CSP.
  • Develops teaming and pricing strategies and leads proposal and pricing reviews with functional and senior managers/leadership.
  • Travel as required for various field programs
  • Maintain and develop market intelligence including customers' present and future plans for growth, projects, and requirements, as well as competitor activity.
  • Brings in new and leverages existing relationships and market reputation to establish / maintain key customer and strategic partner relationships.
  • Develops strategy alongside the operations and directs the preparation of proposals and presentations to win new business opportunities.
  • Responsible for the deployment of Worley sales process, and implementation of Worley account management principals building relationships and identifying key areas of opportunity.
  • Influence clients and effectively communicate Worley’s capabilities and how Worley can meet and exceed customer requirements.
  • Recommends new services and new industry markets that the company should actively pursue.
  • Maintains an active presence in the industry presenting at conferences, chairing panels, and identify strategic teaming partners and subcontractors.
  • Supports the preparation and ensures corporate approval of contracts for awarded projects/studies.


Qualifications


Technical and Industry Experience:
  • Experience proactively managing and collaborating across a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural organization.
  • Network of relevant key client contacts and ability to enhance customer relationships
  • Experience in developing prospects with customers.
  • Business Development experience in one or more of our key markets (eg: Energy, Chemicals & Resources, Nuclear, Renewable Energy, Energy Transition, Infrastructure).
  • Knowledge of corporate policies and directives related to proposal and contract formulation.
  • Related experience and demonstrated performance required.
  • Experience of successfully partnering with, and influencing client senior management, and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking that can develop and implement complex pursuit plans.
  • Exceptional skill in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability in making presentations to customers and management.
  • Solid understanding of the environmental and water consulting industry and delivery of services to customers challenged with the complexities of the low carbon world
  • Alignment with Worley’s values, drivers, and commitment to customer service.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10+ years of related work experience and credibility with customers and key stakeholders. Will consider candidates with environmental consulting science and engineering experience, or industry-based experience.
  • Good understanding of larger trends, technologies, and opportunities across all aspects of the Environment and Water business.
  • Strong track record of managing and winning bid processes and exceling in targeted growth areas.
  • Future focused and embracer of new technologies and bespoke solutions to address sustainability, the energy transition, digital realm and flexible commercial models of clients.
  • A high level of business acumen, business development capability, and customer focus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout North America.
