Position Summary

The Data Analyst, Physician Quality Improvement is responsible for managing the compilation and analysis of complex healthcare, clinical and utilization data to facilitate quality improvement initiatives and strategies associated with the development, management, and evaluation of the Northern Health/ Specialist Services Committee Physician Quality Improvement program activity. This innovative, collaborative program seeks to engage physicians to discuss, prioritize and act on system improvement opportunities; enabling health system improvement by supporting physicians in quality improvement initiatives; and supporting physicians to deliver quality care by building physician capacity in leadership and quality improvement skills. The position has regional responsibilities, supporting the various teams across Northern Health, as well as provincial connections to other similar teams across BC. This position will provide consultation and support in the development, analysis, interpretation and management of a variety of complex data sources to support clinical process improvement and system impact savings. Additionally, this position will support internal education programs and coaching related to quality improvement.


Starting salary will be approximately from $72,445 to $90,556 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions

Qualfications


  • Experience in evaluation methods an asset.
  • Master's Degree in Health Administration, Public Administration, Business, Statistics or Social Sciences;
  • Two (2) to three (3) years' experience working in an analytical capacity in a health services environment;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data bases an asset.


Skills And Abilities


  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, use complex statistical concepts, use quantitative and qualitative methodologies and prepare reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships, both internal and external, at all levels.
  • Ability to develop forecasting models.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of QI systems and QI methodologies; Model for Improvement preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure without direct supervision.
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to changing priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of common computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with large databases, spreadsheets and graphics.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize, balancing multiple projects.
  • Ability to research, analyze and problem-solve complex issues towards creative solutions and recommendations.
  • Ability to be clinically minded and highly analytical.
  • Broad understanding of current issues, challenges and future directions of health care delivery in Canada.
