WHAT ON EARTH IS DECIEM?

Known as “The Abnormal Beauty Company”, DECIEM is the parent company of The Ordinary, NIOD, Avestan, and other beauty brands & is an industry disruptor with a science first approach to innovation. DECIEM was Co-Founded in 2013 by the late Brandon Truaxe, a visionary who set out to change the beauty industry through authenticity and transparency. He developed DECIEM to be a happy family (of people and beauty brands), rooted in kindness, creativity, diversity, and respect, alongside Co-Founder and CEO, Nicola Kilner.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a freelance, full-time Copywriter & Editor who will be a trusted and reliable consultant for the DECIEM Design team and support the establishment of campaign copy for brand marketing campaigns – inclusive of campaign writing, product messaging, social, email, and other branded materials.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

• Work alongside DECIEM’s Brand team & DECIEM’s in-house Copywriter lead in concepting and product positioning – focusing on The Ordinary
• Support copy development for DECIEM websites, aligning with the company’s voice
• Absorb the complexities of the brands chemistry and science approach that relates to beauty
• Understand and support communicating the DNA of DECIEM’s brands through copy on marketing, and all customer facing materials
• Develop creative copy ideas and concepts, often in partnership with brands/creative design leaders.
• Perform other duties, as assigned, with agility and great attention to detail

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

• Ability to multi-task, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, diligent and resolutive traits to deliver in time
• 3-5 years copywriting experience; familiarity with beauty industry is an asset
• Relevant education OR equivalent work experience in English, Journalism, Copywriting or similar is an asset
• Previous experience writing copy for social media, marketing materials, internal communications, and customer facing content
• Product concepting and positioning experience is an asset
• Impeccable grammar and spelling, cheekiness, and a sense of humor
• Detail-oriented, with the ability to spot errors
• Ability to write in a range of “tones” from formal to playful and abnormal
