The Company
Our Beamsville area client is a growing manufacturing company with several locations in Canada and the US. As an industry leader, their products are sold through big box retailers to customers across Canada and the US. Due to unprecedented growth, they are adding a Controller to the team. NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS 100% ONSITE.
The Role
The Controller reports to the Director of Finance and oversees the month end close and full cycle accounting function. The Controller manages a team of 3 staff and is ensures overall accuracy of the company's financial records and reports. The Controller oversees A/P, A/R general accounting, capex, cash management, government remittances, annual audit and assists with budgeting and planning.
What do You bring to the Role?
To be considered for the position of Controller, you must be a designated CPA. You have 3+ years of experience as an Assistant Controller or Controller. You should be a strong leader who can effectively lead a small team and ensure the accuracy and completeness of the financial statements. To be considered for this role, you must have strong technical accounting knowledge and experience. You should have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles and how data flows through the general ledger. Strong ASPE knowledge is important. Experience in creating and implementing policies and procedures is a big asset. You should solid ERP and Excel skills. Past manufacturing industry experience is preferred. Our client is open to Audit Managers looking to move directly from local CPA firms.

Requirements
Duties of the Position:

• Other duties as required.
• Assist the leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process.
• Monthly variance analysis of actual results against budget.
• Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with the internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
• Cash flow management and prepare cash flow forecasts.
• Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, fixed assets and petty cash.
• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with ASPE standards and regulatory requirements.
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
• Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that accurately reflect the financial position of the organization.
• Coordinate all month-end/ year-end and annual audit activity.
• Manage the full cycle accounting function, using NAV Dynamics, including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
• Review journal entries and ensure adequate documentation for all financial transactions.
• Reconcile bank and investment accounts.

Requirements Of The Position

• 3+ years as an Assistant Controller or Controller
• CPA designation
• Solid technical accounting knowledge
• Strong ASPE knowledge
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Manufacturing industry experience preferred
• Strong ERP and Excel skills
