As a Team Leader for our Content Team, you will be responsible for a team of writers who work on a variety of projects, including technical/educational pieces, corporate communications, content marketing campaigns, as well as docu-series style storytelling.
As a Content Team Leader, you will be responsible for:
Team Leadership (50%):
·Provide direction and oversight to team on a day-to-day basis by, removing escalated barriers, coaching through issues/conflicts.
·Manage and balance teams daily workload including evaluating needs and delegating tasks to team members based on capacity and skill. Assigning tasks to yourself where appropriate so that you don’t lose out on this creative outlet.
·Participate in the hiring process by consulting on team needs and fit.
·Onboard new team members and provide ongoing training and career development opportunities
·Participate on the leadership team to facilitate teams’ development while achieving the goals and overall success of the organization
·Participate in L10 EOS meetings by following up on your own and your team’s to-dos and cascade messages as required.
·Participate in attracting and hiring people with exceptional talent and character.
·Manage your team’s performance by providing valuable, constructive feedback through regular touchpoints and annual reviews.
·Hold team accountable to maintaining quality and standards.
·Be an advocate for your bees in the hive by looking for ways to support your team, improve processes, culture, solutions, and value we provide to all stakeholders.
Project Work (30%):
·Creative script writing for video projects in a variety of genres
·Apply different writing styles, voices, and tones as appropriate to the medium, demographic and persona - balancing the disciplines of both journalism and copywriting
·Write copy for websites (blog posts), social media, video
·Research and interview subjects, as required
·Project coordination
oContribute expertise to proposals, scope, scheduling
oClient communications - email, deliveries, discovery calls, review meetings (when required)
oContent writing - revisions, actioning changes when needed
·Collaborate with production teams to develop compelling narratives
·Edit, proofread, and produce final production for grammar, spelling, style and alignment with brand guidelines
·Use superior organization skills to mind the finer details of projects, paying close attention to accuracy and timelines.
·Execute assigned tasks within projects led by yourself or others.
·Use R&D time to hone skills and look for tools/processes that improve our products and services.
·Effectively use project management software for your projects and time entry to ensure projects are on scope, on budget and on time.
·Some travel may be required from time to time to client events and other opportunities
Project Leadership/Consulting (20%): Creative Direction - as an expert in video, you are able to develop a creative vision and plan that aligns with business objectives by:
·Defining deliverables, managing stakeholders, establishing vision and style, determining resources and providing direction to team members to delegate and deliver
·Consult with internal team members to execute project requests
·Work directly with clients from time to time to scope and understand a new project, while advising best practices and looking for ways to improve/challenge the client request
·Participate in project intake assessments, as required
·Other duties as assigned.
Some requirements for this role are:
●You have at least 1+ year leadership experience
●You are a great storyteller with 5+ years experience in writing, which makes you a strong proofreader and also gives you the credibility to provide quality feedback to team members
●You can understand the value of content marketing and how it differs from traditional marketing communications
●You take your craft seriously but not yourself
●Be a proficient project manager with the ability to raise all ships by teaching your team of writers how to lead their own projects
●You have a degree or diploma in Broadcasting / Communications / Video Production, or equivalent industry experience.
