Clinic Attendant/Patient & Family Education Assistant - Odette Cancer Centre, Ambulatory Clinics - Temporary Full-Time (2023-231665)

We currently have a Temporary Full-Time (until approx. May 2024) opportunity for a Clinic Attendant/Patient & Family Education Assistant in the Odette Cancer Centre, Ambulatory Clinics at Bayview.

Hours Of Work

Weekdays: Days; 8 hours.

Summary Of Duties

• Assist with onsite instrument reprocessing and tracking of instruments and supplies
• Prepare requisitions for supplies, check supplies when received, prepare invoices, forward requisitions to Accounts Payable for payment; prepare orders for pharmacy ward Email orders and communicate with vendors.
• Responsible for maintenance of essential supplies in T-wing, M-wing exam rooms and procedure rooms as well as Chemotherapy Unit
• Ordering Patient Education materials using websites utilized by the department as well as tracking usage for future evaluation purposes
• Ensure agreements and service contracts are forwarded to the managers for approval
• Work closely with Manager, Supervisors, staff and clinicians to ensure Patient Education materials are distributed efficiently and kept in an organized manner
• Retrieve juices from food stores, specimen bottles from Microbiology, instruments from Biomedical engineering, instruments from RPC after processing, etc
• Liaise with Cytology and other departments to receive supplies g.

Qualifications/Skills

• PSW certificate an asset
• Ability to lift, push and pull objects weighing 10-20kg
• Proven ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple demands from multiple sources
• Ability to take initiative and work independently within a team
• Demonstrated organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs required
• Completion of a formal 2 or 3 year post-secondary program at a community college required
• Successful completion of medical terminology and instrumentation course an asset
• Two (2) years of recent related health care experience required
