Chief Electrical Engineer
Our Client is looking for a Chief Electrical Engineer to help meet the growing demand for project engineering in the minerals sector in Canada and abroad. This is a multi-discipline project delivery EPCM providing quality services for clients in the mining sector since 1975.
Job Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed design, sizing and calculations.
• Oversee and check other electrical engineers and designers’ work including back-office design.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian/US electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Attend project team meetings, client meetings, vendor review meetings.
• Review vendor designs for compliance with technical specifications.
• Provide mentorship to Junior and Intermediate Engineers/Designers.
• Engage in the preparation of engineering drawings such as single line, layout, schematics, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, P&IDs, etc.
• Participate in the Technical and Commercial aspects of procurement for electrical equipment such as Switch-gear, MCC’s, VFDs, etc, including the preparation of electrical equipment specifications, data sheets and purchasing requisitions.
• Perform witness testing as needed at the vendors facility.
• Professional sealing of technical drawings and documents.
• Act as Lead for the execution of all electrical deliverables required for the successful completion of engineering projects. This includes deliverables, pertaining to power supply, Instrumentation & Control, etc.
• Develop and track project schedules, man-hours, deliverables in conjunction with Project Services Group and Project Manager(s).
• Establish scope of work for projects and proposals and develop engineering cost estimates, deliverable lists, schedules, change order requests.
• Participate in the preparation of engineering studies such as grounding, protection coordination, arc flash, short circuit, etc. while utilizing applicable engineering software (e.g., ETAP).
• Responsible for preparation of technical and training documents.
• Lead project(s) and act as the main point of contact with the Client and other external stakeholders for the electrical aspect of a project. Maintain continuous contact with clients to ensure their satisfaction.
• Review, check and approval of all engineering deliverables produced by the E&I discipline including P.Eng. Stamping of electrical deliverables where required.
• Monitor and update electrical man-hours and schedule progress on assigned projects.
• Participate in the preparation of Load Lists and perform electrical equipment sizing.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering graduate.
• Ability to use and oversee 3D based design.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office tools.
• Registered Professional Engineer.
• Experience in the mining or mineral processing sector preferred.
• Self-starter who works well independently and on a team.
• Obtain P. Eng. Certification in other jurisdictions, if required (i.e. Newfoundland and Labrador)
