The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Ulteig team at our Hamilton office. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of engineering work in the initial planning phase through to support services during the construction and commissioning phases of projects. Working with other members of the team, you’ll be responsible for applying engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods. You will provide design services for our clients as required, including assessment, planning, feasibility studies, concept design, budgetary cost estimates and detailed design in the Water/Wastewater market. Background knowledge of SCADA and I&C design will be an asset. You will provide technical guidance to junior drafter/designers and coordinate with multiple project design disciplines for interference checking and quality control.

What You'll Do

• Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation.
• Create/modify single line diagrams, loop drawings, communication drawings, and building/site layouts, plans and elevations as needed.
• Manage assigned projects with attention to schedule, capacity planning, and other project deliverables.
• Control system (PLC / HMI) programming ability is preferred.
• Create/modify P&IDs, electrical schematics, panel layouts.
• Specification of VFDs, soft-starters, harmonic filters, reactors capacitor banks and other 600 V equipment.
• Design of Switchgear and MCCs up to and including 600 V.

What We Expect From You

• Experience with Tender document development and Contract Administration Experience with electrical power distribution up to 600V, emergency and standby power systems, LV power distribution for controls and lighting, PLC and Remote Telemetry systems, process instrumentation, security, network and communication systems
• Design experience in water/wastewater and renewable energy sectors a definite asset.
• Must have a valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license, have access to a vehicle and can travel occasionally.
• Registered Professional Electrical Engineer in Ontario.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Sound understanding of design engineering codes and CSA electrical and CEC standards.
• At least 10 years’ work experience in Electrical design and Project experience in Water/Wastewater.
• Must have experience managing numerous projects simultaneously.
• Fluent English communication and presentation skills.
