Graduate Electrical Engineer Jobs

Mott MacDonald has an immediate need for Graduate Electrical Engineer/Designer to work on Built Environment (Buildings and Facilities) related projects in Canada and assist in planning, design and construction of commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, governmental, transportation, and general infrastructure projects.

• Assists in discipline specific research and development projects.
• Monitor progress on assigned projects.
• Work within an electrical engineering team in a multi-disciplinary, time sensitive environment with changing priorities.
• Participate in training for individuals and the team, in accordance with Group policies.
• Take personal responsibility to assure that your work is completed on time, on budget, and within the quality standards of the firm.
• Work with other disciplines and offices within Mott MacDonald.
• Collaborate with and support Project Managers and Project Engineers to meet all technical and commercial aspects of assigned projects.
• Working in accordance with company policies and developing personal goals and objectives.
• Assist Project Managers with project documentation and project management tasks to support analyses of activities, costs, and operations.
• Seek opportunities to learn, grow and enhance your stature within the engineering profession.

Candidate Specification

You will have experience in the built environment (buildings and facilities) market segment and possess the following skills and experience:

• Willing and able to travel within Ontario as required to support projects
• Assuring the quality of your deliverables.
• Adaptable to working within different client environments/cultures.
• Ability to effectively communicate to internal stakeholders in a professional manner, both written and orally.
• Positive ‘can-do’ attitude to working with colleagues and clients.
• Awareness of Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code and other design and construction standards.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and design digital tools and technology is required.
• Eligibility (upon meeting post-graduation PEO requirements) for licensing as an engineer in the Province of Ontario is required.
• Ability to work with minimal direct oversight and to deliver projects on-time and budget to the satisfaction of your line manager and supervisor.
• 1 to 2 years’ experience is preferred but a graduate level entry position will also be considered.
• Awareness of design of electrical services and systems such as: building electrical service and distribution, lighting design, energy efficiency, coordination with mechanical systems, electrical substations, medium voltage and low voltage switchgear and distribution, emergency (standby) power generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), conduit and wire sizing; for industrial, commercial and institutional low-rise and high-rise buildings.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• A recent graduate with Bachelor’s Degree specializing in electrical engineering from a recognized Canadian University or equivalent is required.
• Awareness of electrical design services for one or more specialty sectors (e.g. aviation, rail & transit, hospitals, etc.) would be an asset.
• Awareness of both new build and building renovation/redevelopment/ repurposing, with a keen interest in sustainability and decarbonization.
