The Opportunity
As Case Management Coordinator , your primary function is to review and assess requests from lawyers for fees and disbursements which require authorization under the Legal Aid BC Tariff. Make decisions on requests within defined thresholds, review, assess and manage requests requiring decision by the Legal Services Department.
Key Accountabilities Include, But Aren't Limited To
Assess requests using knowledge of the justice system and court or tribunal procedures (including criminal, family, CFCSA, immigration and duty counsel); the LABC Tariff, Intake policies and procedures and case management authorization guidelines/manual;
Determine reasonableness and necessity of requests; make decisions on requests within defined thresholds; review and assess requests requiring decision by the Legal Services Department (ensuring complex requests contain required and sufficient case history and details);
Consult with supervisor, manager, audit staff, lawyers in the Legal Advice & Representation Division or Case Review Lawyers on questionable requests;

The Ideal Candidate
You have
Grade 12 supplemented by legal courses
Minimum 4 years relevant experience as outlined in rated requirements
Minimum typing speed 40 wpm

OR an equivalent combination of education/experience
