Come work as a Clinical Educator, Nursing with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
- Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs and resources using specialized theory and knowledge of generalized and specialized clinical practice as well as teaching and learning principles and processes.
- Consult, confer, and collaborate with educators and clinical program and team members in promotion of continuous quality improvement, resolution of clinical education issues and coordination of activities required for progressive educational and clinical practice programs.
- Take corrective action with respect to individual and group learning needs.
- Provide clinical education services including individual and group learning assessments and opportunities.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Three (3) years' recent, related nursing experience related gerontology, including two years’ experience in client education and/or group facilitation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's and access to a personal vehicle for local travel may be required, and will be noted on the posting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively apply teaching/learning strategies that complement identified clinical and quality initiatives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical practice related to assigned clinical area.
- Employs advanced expertise in the use of current computer applications to create and maintain a variety of client care information systems (such as PARIS), databases, documents and presentations and various educational technologies.
- Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
- Ability and skill to operate related equipment, and in techniques appropriate to assigned clinical area.
- Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to customers and to enable an empowered and self-directed environment.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate the development of critical thinking and clinical decision making skills in others.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.
- Comprehensive skill and expertise in gerontological and long term care care and issues.
- Knowledge of, and ability to, apply relevant quality improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, and other health care staff, either one-on-one or in groups.
- Knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and material.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate and coach.
