Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Physiotherapist to join the Long Term Care team at Banfield Pavilions in Vancouver General Hospital. Apply today to join our team!


As a Physiotherapist with VCH you will


  • Support the interdisciplinary program/team in achieving program and resident/client goals.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the health care team, including residents and families, to set physical performance and capacity goals, evaluate response to treatment and develop long term care plans.
  • Be responsible for all clinical aspects of the assigned caseload as they relate to physical therapy practice, utilizing recognized physiotherapy assessment and intervention approaches.
  • Supervise designated non-paramedical staff, schedule and coordinate work assignments and establish priorities and problem solve.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and support clinical innovation.


Education & Experience


  • Degree in Physical Therapy from a recognized program and two (2) years of recent and related clinical experience.
  • Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC).
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physical Therapy Association (CPA) or the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC).


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Demonstrated skill in physiotherapy techniques and use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment.
  • Broad knowledge of the CPTBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities and deal with conflict.
  • Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including ability to effectively use computerized resident care information system.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with residents and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in resident care.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach and mentor staff.
  • Broad knowledge of Physical Therapy theory and practice within a resident and family centred model of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and empower residents to assume control over their health.
  • Broad knowledge of physiotherapy interventions as related to seniors and residential care populations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Broad knowledge of evidence-based practice related to residential care, gerontology and chronic disease management.
  • Broad knowledge of physiotherapy standardized tests and measures.


The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is looking for a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join the Ultrasound Cardiac team at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody, BC. Apply today to join our team!


As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with Vancouver Coastal Health you will
  • Entering relevant data into the diagnostic imaging information system;
  • And conducting examinations utilizing ultrasound and Doppler techniques.
  • Receiving and completing requisitions;
  • May perform venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed by the Radiologist/Cardiologist.
  • Perform abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts and echocardiography ultrasound examinations, observing patient safety practices.
  • Preparing patients for specific procedures;
  • Participate on committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
  • Support your team by performing duties such as


Education & Experience


  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or applicable experience working in IV Therapy or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience when required by site practice.
  • Must be a graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography and be certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or be certified with Sonography Canada and have passed the Sonography Canada Skills Assessment (CCSA).


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Demonstrated knowledge of imaging acquisition applications and digital imaging storage and distribution networks such as PACS.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic sonographic and medical imaging equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for sonography procedures including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts and cardiac sonography.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the aseptic techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
