Why We Need You


We are seeking a qualified, engaged employee to work as part of a collaborative, high performing team to fill a permanent position as a Buyer or Senior Buyer within the Purchasing department. Position level will be dependent on the candidate’s overall skills and experience.


Buyers and Senior Buyers will have the opportunity to work in different Purchasing categories throughout their career depending on business need. The current business need is in the On-Site Services category which may include Maintenance Contracting, Rentals, and Operated Equipment. Other purchasing categories include MRO (Part Sourcing), Raw Materials Sourcing, and Capital Project Sourcing.


Overall Responsibility


  • The Senior Buyer will independently lead significant purchase initiatives with high business impact.
  • Apply the Purchase Order Fulfillment (POF) process to procure goods and services for assigned categories and manage category costs through appropriate analysis, negotiations and price management in order to meet service level expectations of the POF process stakeholders.


Accountabilities


  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including Suppliers, Business Units, and all teams within Purchasing & Logistics.
  • Evaluate and record supplier performance, identify corrective action, set improvement targets and recommend appropriate recognition of suppliers.
  • Provide coordination and work direction for Buying Team resources.
  • Manage the Purchase Order Fulfillment process for assigned categories through administration and adherence to the supporting processes: negotiations, approvals, invoicing, price management, supplier management, inventory management, contract design, receipt of goods, Purchase Quality System.
  • Prepare bid packages, analyze quotes, and work with stakeholders to make/negotiate the lowest Total Cost of Ownership award decision. Design purchase orders that are accurate, with sound financial controls, and structured to streamline the time/effort for stakeholders in the POF process to administer/pay.
  • Regularly update knowledge transfer documentation. Train the business units and suppliers on the information required to accurately administer your PO's.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that contribute toward achievement of cost savings.
  • Buyer:
  • Manages and submits, upon review and active participation from Manager, financial requirements (ie. month end/year end close, MRF inputs and budget/5-year planning).
  • Ensure an efficient and conflict free interface between the plant and suppliers by managing contracts and resolving problems in delivery, scheduling, scope changes, price issues and quality concerns.
  • Senior Buyer:
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, resulting in quantifiable savings to support the overall Purchasing Business Plan.
  • Act as the lead facilitator to resolve conflict between the plant and suppliers by managing contracts and resolving problems in delivery, scheduling, scope changes, price issues and quality concerns. Lead meetings with cross functional teams to enhance collaboration.
  • Develops and submits, upon review with active participation from Manager, financial requirements (ie. month end/year end close, MRF inputs and budget/5-year planning). Completes comparisons to Corporate and previous year inputs as required by Financial. Manages inventory expectations/targets.
  • Mentor team members to enhance and/or develop skills. Regularly update knowledge transfer documentation. Train the business units and suppliers on the information required to accurately administer your PO's.


Knowledge And Skills


  • Working knowledge of Purchasing Business Systems, long-term purchasing strategy, annual procurement goals are required.
  • Basic knowledge of how the Manufacturing process operates in relation to assigned categories is required.
  • Competencies: Decision Making and Analysis, Results Orientation, Teamwork.
  • Working knowledge of category sourcing procedures and applicable laws, standards, and procedures of assigned categories are required.
  • Working knowledge of all Purchase Order Fulfillment processes is required.

  • Good communication (verbal, written, and comprehension) and presentation skills are required.
  • Good initiative--- takes action and operates with a high sense of urgency.
  • Good time management, organization, and analytical skills required.

  • Good computer skills: Microsoft office products, and purchasing business systems.

  • Buyer:

  • Intermediate communication (verbal, written, and comprehension) and presentation skills are required.
  • Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft office products, and purchasing business systems.

  • Senior Buyer:
  • Strong planning, prioritization, organization, problem solving, analytical, and decision-making-skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of assigned categories and the fundamentals of the supply markets and supply base are required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Purchasing Negotiation, Price Management, and Financial Controls, processes are required.
  • Intermediate negotiation skills are required.


Education & Experience


  • The Senior Buyer must have 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 4-year University Degree in Engineering/Business or equivalent work experience.


Work Environment


  • This position is eligible for remote work in accordance with our current remote work policy.
  • Office working environment with some requirements to meet in the plant/manufacturing facilities or with suppliers which will require the wearing of personal protective equipment.


Hours Of Work


  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads.
  • Flexibility to determine workday start and end times, to fit personal needs.
