MDM Insurance Service Inc. is a fully integrated third-party administrator and adjudicator of employee benefit plans. We are currently looking for the following contract position.
Business Architect – Application Development
The Role
The Business Architect will lead the conversion of an existing application within our organization. As a Business Architect, you will be responsible for driving the successful transformation of the application, ensuring alignment with business objectives and seamless integration with existing systems. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including business users, IT teams, and project managers, to gather requirements, analyze processes, and deliver effective solutions.
To be successful in this role, previous experience in the insurance industry, specifically working with group insurance, would be an asset.
Job Responsibilities:
·Application Conversion: Lead the end-to-end conversion process of the existing application, ensuring a smooth transition from the legacy system to the new solution. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand current functionalities, pain points, and desired improvements.
·Requirements Gathering: Conduct thorough business analysis to elicit, document, and prioritize functional and non-functional requirements for the converted application. Engage with business users and subject matter experts to understand their needs and translate them into actionable specifications.
·Process Analysis: Analyze existing business processes and workflows impacted by the application conversion. Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and automation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop streamlined processes aligned with industry best practices.
·Solution Design: Work closely with technical teams, solution architects, and vendors to design the architecture, components, and integrations of the converted application. Ensure the solution aligns with business requirements, scalability, security, and data integrity standards.
·Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders, including business users, executives, and IT teams, to ensure alignment and gather feedback throughout the conversion process. Proactively manage expectations and communicate project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
·Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and conduct system testing to validate the converted application's functionality, usability, and performance. Collaborate with testing teams to identify and resolve defects and ensure a high-quality deliverable.
·User Training and Support: Develop training materials and conduct user training sessions to enable smooth user adoption of the converted application. Provide post-implementation support and address user inquiries and issues to ensure a successful transition.
·Documentation and Reporting: Create clear and concise documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, process flows, and user guides. Generate regular progress reports and present project updates to senior management and stakeholders.
·Change Management: Develop and execute change management strategies to facilitate organizational change and ensure user acceptance of the converted application. Identify potential risks, anticipate resistance, and implement effective communication and training plans.
·Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for ongoing enhancement and optimization of the converted application. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to propose innovative solutions.
Requirements:
·Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
·Experience in group insurance.
·Proven experience as a Business Analyst, with a focus on application conversions or system implementations.
·Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and practices.
·Proficiency in requirements-gathering techniques, such as workshops, interviews, and document analysis.
·Familiarity with software architecture and design principles, as well as integration and data migration concepts.
·Experience in creating comprehensive test plans, test cases, and conducting system testing.
·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and drive effective solutions.
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
·Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
·Strong attention to detail and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
·Previous experience with change management and user adoption strategies is a plus.
·Experience in Microsoft .Net and Microsoft SQL would be an asset.
Note: This position is a contract-based opportunity with a defined contract duration.
