Job Description
The Team: S&P Global Ratings is seeking an Associate to join its non-traditional asset-backed team within the structured finance practice. The Associate will be part of a team which provides and monitors credit ratings and opinions for securitizations backed by a wide variety of nontraditional assets, including aircraft, container, railcar, NNN, and other lease-based products, corporate securitizations, small business, solar, and timeshare loans, among others.
The Impact: This role blends quantitative and qualitative analytics with strong interpersonal and communication skills, client interaction, and project management. The Associate will assess the credit risk profile of collateral pools, understand and use financial models, read legal and transaction documents, and conduct cash flow analyses to determine the credit rating impact of stress tests to structures and enhancement levels under various economic scenarios. The Associate will also participate actively in credit rating committees and interact with arrangers, issuers, and investors on analytical matters. The Associate will play an important role in improving our analytical tools and streamlining our processes.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative skillset to work on special projects such as building data analytics capabilities across Structured Finance, utilizing lean management principles to optimize processes, and developing next-generation analytical tools as directed by the analytical team manager.
  • Analyze credit and cash flow characteristics of collateral pools. Review third-party model output and reconcile with cash flow results from internal models.
  • Understand the financial market and be able to use and understand financial models for various types of ABS and Esoteric Assets transactions securitizations.
  • Actively manage relationships with issuers, intermediaries, and investors. Effectively communicate S&P’s methodologies and procedures. Participate in client meetings.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of legal and operating documents to ensure compliance with criteria and identify issues with the transaction structure. Provide comments to external parties.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and cash flow analysis by helping to resolve clients’ analytical questions.
Basic Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
  • Strong interest in finance, quantitative, and legal discipline.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, and experience with financial models and financial data.
  • Project management skills; Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines under time pressure.
  • Diligent and intellectually curious self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team.
  • 2+ years of full-time relevant work experience in capital markets, quantitative finance, or credit analysis/research.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain quantitative/technical concepts to others. are required.
  • Undergraduate Degree
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and their relationship to S&P Global products.
  • Ability to analyze and solve non-routine problems with ingenuity in a timely and insightful manner.

  • Prior experience with data analysis, cash flow analysis, and programming languages will be helpful.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $94,976 to $150,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
