We have a newly created Assistant Controller role and can be fully remote if you live within the province of British Columbia. Rare travel to the BC Head office will be required. This is a great opportunity for a CPA to be part of a great team with very progressive leadership who are driving change through automation and process improvement. Your passion should be process improvements, and creating efficiencies and controls!
The Mason Group is honored to have partnered exclusively with our client who is well known to us and definitely a favorite! Reporting to the CFO, the successful applicant will be an integral member of the larger accounting team.
A keen interest in technology and process improvements provides you with the aptitude to embrace change and figure out a new & better way to approach an opportunity, or create a solution. A background in project accounting, fund accounting and translating contracts into processes and procedures for revenue recognition is very helpful. Critical thinking skills are a much.
You will also have oversight over the payroll team, so prior experience being responsible for payroll is very advantageous.
As a CPA, a strong understanding of accounting enables you to assist the Controller with the month end and financial reporting process as a backup when the need arises.
This dynamic role enables you to provide strategic decision support to help drive the future direction and continued growth of this group as they transition into the next stage in their evolution.

Requirements
- A Canadian CPA designation is required
- Able to work independently
- Familiarity or strong interest in integrating various financial systems
- An excellent communicator
- Demonstrable experience in process improvements using technology and critical thinking skills
- 3+ years of progressive & relevant accounting experience in an industry role
- Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills and an analytical mindset
- A people person who is able to work collaboratively and respectfully at all levels within a diverse work group
