Overview


Who We Are


Barnard-Flatiron Limited Partnership (“BFLP”), a joint venture between Barnard Constructors of Canada and Flatiron Constructors Canada, has been created to deliver Phase One of the Green Line LRT Project.


The Green Line LRT Project is the largest infrastructure initiative in the history of the City of Calgary, with $5.5 billion (CAD) in commitments from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and the City of Calgary. It will provide significant transportation benefits by expanding mobility choice and providing rapid and direct connections between communities, employment hubs and destinations between the southeast and downtown Calgary. Phase 1 includes 18 kilometers of dual light rail track, 13 passenger stations, 2 kilometers of underground tunneling, 9 major bridge structures including 1 kilometer of elevated guideway, and a 72-acre maintenance and storage facility.


Position Overview


Reporting to the Construction Manager of BFLP, this role will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing the successful execution of water and sewer infrastructure projects for the Calgary Green Line. You will collaborate with our client, engineering teams, and contractors to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of projects while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to safety regulations.


Work Environment


This position will be required to work from the BFLP offices, located downtown Calgary.


Qualifications


  • 10+ Years of construction experience with proven experience (5+ years) as a Civil Project Manager, specifically in the field of Water and Sewer utilities
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices related to water and sewer projects
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification is a plus
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate project teams, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Strong knowledge of water and sewer infrastructure design, construction, and regulatory requirements
  • A cobmination of education and experience will be considered
  • LRT construction experience preferred
  • In depth knowledge of MSE
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience managing multiple subcontractors
  • Proficient in project management software


Responsibilities


  • Oversee project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports
  • Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient and effective project execution
  • Communicate project updates, risks, and issues to stakeholders, and provide timely resolutions
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule, while meeting quality standards and client expectations
  • Prepare and review project proposals, budgets, and schedules to ensure feasibility and alignment with client requirements
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, quality, and compliance with safety regulations
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, architects, and contractors to develop project scope, objectives, and timelines
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and implement improvements for future projects
  • Manage the full lifecycle of water and sewer utility projects, including planning, design, construction, and project closeout
