Divisional Overview


The Government Digital Experience Division (GDX) is responsible for ensuring government services and information are available online through government's main web presence at www.gov.bc.ca, and that ministry programs and services are informed by the input and experiences of regular British Columbians.


GDX works to help government understand the informational needs of British Columbians, and to help British Columbians find and access the services they need from government. GDX supports people-focused policy development and great service experiences. The division delivers products and services to ministry partners and organizations including design and delivery of public engagement projects, field research with service users, plain language writing of online service information, analytics, and training. It supports the technology of online applications and websites including gov.bc.ca, and the technology that delivers news releases.


Job Overview


Reporting to the Engagement Lead, Citizen Engagement this position will provide public engagement coordination and project management support for large, complex projects while at the same time taking responsibility for small and medium sized engagements within an assigned portfolio of ministries. The role designs and delivers specialized engagement tactics including large public events, workshops, advisory groups and online tools such as forums, surveys, and voting platforms. This role will plan projects, prepare financial and contract arrangements, and monitor budgets and deliverables to ensure the projects are on time and meet quality standards.


This position coordinates all aspects of both online and in-person engagement projects within their portfolio. This position coordinates the development of all marketing and outreach materials and approaches within their portfolio. This position gathers and analyzes feedback and develops recommendations and garners ideas that will be considered by ministries for legislative, regulatory, policy and service improvements. This position provides advice to the Team Lead and Senior Director on evaluation, improvements or results of public engagement to provide to Premier's Office, Ministers and Minister's offices.


Job Requirements


  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline (may include Public Engagement, Business Administration, Economics or Public Administration) or equivalent combination of *related experience, education and/or training.
  • Experience writing reports and briefings for approval by senior executive.
  • Experience establishing and managing positive relationships with senior staff.
  • Experience working in public engagement, facilitation, and/or communications.
  • Experience in policy development and analyzing engagement results.
  • Minimum of 3 years' related experience must include a combination of all the following:


Preferences May Be Given To Applicants With The Following


  • Experience and competence in using online facilitation tools.
  • Experience gathering, synthesizing, evaluating and interpreting data from diverse sources using various tools and techniques (i.e. statistical software, survey administration, in-person consultation, data visualization tools).
  • Certification in International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) and/or courses in public engagement, public relations or communications.
