Job Scope:
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk is responsible for front office customer service as well as accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.We are currently looking to fill the role of Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk as of October, 2023 for a period of 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Collects accounts receivable arrears
- Posts daily EFT batch from e-transfers
- Maintains the internal phone system directory, adding users, email addresses, assisting users
- Review Accounts Payable statements
- Responds to general inquiries, or refers to other Municipal departments
- Coordinates courier deliveries
- Completes bank deposits as required
- Receives funds from other departments and posts to correct accounts
- Receives tax, water/wastewater payments, issues receipts
- Processes and balances cash for over-counter sales
- Maintains office supply inventory
- Prepares audit reports and provides audit support for A/P and A/R
- Reviews accounts payable invoices for accuracy, posts to A/P system, prepares reports
- Collects mail at the Post Office, opens and distributes internal mail
- Provides general reception duties, in-person, email, or phone
- Provides back-up for water billing
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- General knowledge of accounting; experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, general journal entries and balancing accounts considered an asset
- Experience using financial software, Great Plains preferred
- Completion of a post-secondary program in a related field, Accounting preferred
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a financial office setting
- Clean criminal records check
- Superior verbal and written communication and customer service skills
- Valid Class "G" driver’s license with a clean driving record
HOURS OF WORK:
- 40 hours/week, Monday -Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
TOTAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- Pay rate: CUPE Grade 10 ($23.96 – $29.24/hour)
- Enrolment in OMERS pension plan (optional)
