In SAMPOL we are seeking a dynamic Accounting Assistant to join our growing team in our new office in Edmonton, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping and administrative tasks, as well as excellent communication, organizational and people skills.
The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for bookkeeping and accounting of our new branch and ensuring that the organization is complying with all tax laws and local regulations.
If you enjoy providing general administrative support, managing a variety of tasks, supporting multiple departments, and ensuring the smooth running of the office, we would love to speak with you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with external tax advisors to ensure that sales tax returns are accurate and filed on time.
- Ensure that the accounting is adhering to accounting standards and policies.
- Provide weekly business follow-up reports to the headquarters.
- Keep close communication with the Head of Corporative International Administration team, to assure smooth coordination on procedures and deadlines.
- Provide support for document management.
- Tax Compliance: Ensuring that the organization is complying with all tax laws and regulations.
- Offer administrative support across the organization.
- Audit Support: Supporting the annual audit process, working closely with auditors to provide the necessary documentation and support.
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in accounting
- Experience with multi-currency consolidation
- Exceptional proficiency in accounting software and other financial tools, and the ability to adapt to new technologies
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and regulations
- Knowledge of Spanish is a plus
- Living in Edmonton, Alberta
- Accounting designation/certification is required
- Degree in Accounting or a related field
- Desiderable Microsoft
