Responsible for financial management and human resources support including oversight to payroll and benefit submissions, contract and annual cost analysis.

Academic, Training, Knowledge & Experience

Attends and is a resource for the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board

Reviews and approves mandatory employment and tax related filing and payments, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements

Champions knowledge and compliance with accounting and healthcare reporting standards

Minimum of 8 years’ related accounting experience, with at least 4 years of direct people management experience

Strong understanding and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage concurrent deliverables and work effectively in a challenging, high-performance, team environment

Professional designation (CPA or equivalent) and public company experience are required

Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is an asset

Strong aptitude with financial tools and ERP systems; proven experience with ERP implementations and system enhancement projects

Other related duties assigned by the management

Minimum of one year Accounting experience

Excellent communication (verbal and written), analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office

Can legally work in Canada.

Collaborate with the Finance department and the leadership team to produce budgets and forecasts;

Minimum of 2 years of accounting practice experience.

Experience in US GAAP accounting standards (an advantage)

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft and Google suite (World, Excel, PowerPoint).

Prepare monthly and annual financial analyzes as well as monitor budget;

Monitoring of ongoing results, detection and analysis of variances in budgets and forecasts;

Leadership and past people management skills

Manage the overall requirements for revenue processing

Manage cash application, credit payments & recording

Manage the A/P function, including Vendor Relations, A/P disbursements, and handling all cheque disbursements

Implement policies and procedures for finance area

CPA designation and a minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible related experience

Develop technical skills in areas such as: compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax

Working towards a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred)

Working towards prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)

Previous accounting related office experience is considered an asset

Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset

Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset

Ensure the effectiveness of cash management / treasury activities for the Company and all related entities

Manage and lead a team of Accounting & Finance colleagues:

Manage, maintain, and monitor all financial, cost, and operational controls and metrics

Manage the Company’s relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, and other service providers and professionals

Manage bi-weekly payroll and the maintenance of all employee files and records

Mentor and develop colleagues using a supportive and collaborative approach; assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and monitor and evaluate results

Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex issues to senior management as required.

Provide oversight of the Treasury function, including cash-flow forecasts, liquidity management, and external financing needs.

Monitoring the effectiveness of internal controls and internal processes as they pertain to financial reporting and cash management.

Provide change management leadership in the adoption of the new ERP.

Proven ability to integrate strategic business objectives into overall cash management activities.

Demonstrated ability to deliver change management, systems, and process improvements.

7+ years progressive accounting/finance experience

Senior Accountant from firm or industry with 1-2 years of external reporting experience

Experience in preparing external financial statements/managing audit
