Service Delivery Skills, Expertise And Experience

These hours are dependent on the operational requirements of the organization

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in community, preferably with program target population

Experience providing outreach with hard to reach population

Post-secondary education in a Social Services field

Experience/knowledge of basic program support (i.e. filing, preapprovals, caseload admission tracking, creating files)

Knowledge of data input/collection, privacy compliance, event organization, goal planning, monitoring, and evaluation of service

Maintain current CPR/First Aid Safety certification

Creating and distributing KF brochures and websites to inform newcomers about KF and how to access the program

Utilizing the KF and partner websites to inform newcomers about the KF program

Help connect and refer newcomer families from other KidsFirst agencies to RODS Settlement services to meet their settlement needs

Performs such other related duties as may reasonably be required by the Manager of Health & Family Services

Excellent working knowledge of and commitment to programs and services for young people

Knowledge of positive alternative activities, and interests of the youth population

Knowledge of Mental Health Strategies in dealing with First Nation Youth

A positive role model for life and social skills; understanding of Curve Lake First Nation culture and traditional practices

Working knowledge of computer programs for administrative purposes

Supports programs that develop health, fitness, sports, arts, culture, social skills and relationships

A current and valid Food Safe Level 1 certification is an asset

Focuses on systemic planning and strategies that connect youth to the community centre and the broader community.

Builds partnerships with service providers and Indigenous service providers

Initiates, participates and provides leadership in the youth service hubs.

Regularly reports on current youth programs, services and issues.

Provide on-going case management support for up to 20 youth

Excellent report writing skills and previous statistical data collections experience.

Minimum two years’ experience working with young people experiencing homelessness and/or human trafficking.

Knowledge of community resources and systems relevant to youth homelessness and anti-human trafficking

Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to street youth.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong time-management and organizational skills are essential

2 to 3 Years of experience working with at-risk youth

Event planning and organizing skills.

Facilitation skills required: development and delivery of information, orientation, and workshops.

Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet usage

Work in person and remotely

Demonstrated competence to work with challenging behaviour and stressful situations and possess effective conflict and crisis management skills.

Experience with and working knowledge of HIFIS an asset.

Lived experience of homelessness and/or experience working with homeless and/or marginalized individuals is an asset.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to set effective personal boundaries with both clients and co-workers.

Proven ability to problem-solve, multi-task and work both independently and as an effective team member.

Vulnerable Sector and Police Check required.

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.

Identifies client's needs for services and makes appropriate referrals, or develops alternate strategies for client support, education and follow-up care.

Working knowledge of harm reduction principles.

Crisis prevention/intervention and conflict resolution/de-escalation skills.

Provides basic health-promotion information to clients such as crisis counselling/prevention/intervention around issues such as violence, loss/grief, harm reduction.

Attends meetings and participates in patient care planning and co-ordination.

Strong interpersonal, time management, problem-solving and creativity skills.

Preferred to have at least one year of experience working with youth (ages 13-24)

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to accurately collect, manage and report data to direct supervisor for reporting purposes.

Experience in developing and maintaining community relationships and partnerships.

Management of the external environment; by supervisor’s request completing building checks and searches

Understanding of case management principles and practices and relentless engagement.

Completing intakes and supporting participants through orientation, their experiences in program and successful transition to independent living or other supportive housing

Facilitating at least two group life skill sessions monthly and providing occasional individual life skills with participants

Crisis intervention in situations of physical confrontation, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for participants who have recently experienced trauma

Minimum two years’ experience in a shelter or transitional housing program.

Diploma in Community Social Services and two (2) years’ related experience and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Working knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety.

Working knowledge and familiarity with applicable health and social service programs

Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills

Excellent interpersonal communication, counseling, and conflict management skills, including a demonstrated ability to prepare accurate and comprehensive written reports.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others, enjoys the company of young people and can implement effective behavior management strategies.

Work or volunteer experience in a residential care facility or foster home model program.

Develops collaborative relationships with youths' families/caregivers, significant others and informal support systems to maintain and strengthen these connections.

Establishes strong connections to the community, including maintaining close working relationships with all formal and informal service providers.

Participates in clinical consultation and education within OOT regarding psychosocial factors affecting client care and engagement.

Crisis prevention/intervention, problem-solving skills and conflict resolution/de-escalation skills.

Participates in inter-professional planning, evaluation and development of protocols to enhance system processes and resources for clients at risk for overdose.

Maintains a variety of documentation and records. Collects and provides requested data to the OOT clinical team as required.

Participates in program evaluation and/or quality improvement by identifying opportunities for change and formulating recommendations to support OOT related initiatives.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Support youth who are at risk of becoming unhoused or are unhoused and are experiencing barriers in accessing resources and services.

Monday to Thursday from 12pm – 10pm (2 weeks)
