Youth Outreach Worker Jobs

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.

Identifies client's needs for services and makes appropriate referrals, or develops alternate strategies for client support, education and follow-up care.

Working knowledge of harm reduction principles.

Crisis prevention/intervention and conflict resolution/de-escalation skills.

Provides basic health-promotion information to clients such as crisis counselling/prevention/intervention around issues such as violence, loss/grief, harm reduction.

Attends meetings and participates in patient care planning and co-ordination.

Management of external environment; by supervisor’s request completing building checks and searches.

Crisis intervention in situations of physical confrontation, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for youth who have recently experienced trauma.

Minimum two years experience in a shelter or residential setting.

Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to sexual exploitation/sex trafficking/work

First Aid, CPR, Naloxone and basic computer skills an asset.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Management of external environment; by supervisor’s request completing building checks and searches.

Crisis intervention in situations of physical confrontation, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for youth who have recently experienced trauma.

Minimum two years experience in a shelter or residential setting.

Crisis intervention in situations of physical confrontation, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for participants who have recently experienced trauma

Minimum two years’ experience in a shelter or transitional housing program.

Experience working with at-risk youth (12 - 17 years)

Experience delivering various programs to youth.

Ability to remain calm in stressful environments and manage conflict without demonstrating aggressive behaviors.

Strong team player with the ability to ask for help when needed and have excellent interpersonal skills.
