Junior Aquatic Biologist Jobs

Degree in Biology, Fisheries, Ecology, Environmental Science or Natural Resources, or an equivalent combination of education and expierence may be considered.

Experience conducting field work including collecting samples in a wide range of aquatic environments

Experience designing and implementing aquatic monitoring programs, analyzing and assessing biological and/or water quality data, and recommending appropriate courses of action

1-3 years of experience working as an applied biologist;

Conduct plant and wildlife surveys for habitat assessments, special-status species, and other project requirements.

Research regional specific natural resources, survey requirements, and reporting needs.

A minimum 2 years of biological working experience.

Knowledge of environmental policy and regulations and how they apply to industrial development activities in western Canada, including AER and AEP.

Has experience, enjoys and respects our Indigenous partnerships and clients.

Post-secondary education (degree or technical diploma) in biology, environmental science, or a related discipline

Experience in water quality considered an asset

Ability to work long days in the field and handle physically demanding work

Demonstrated attention to detail required for data collection and entry

Positive attitude and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment essential

Experience collaborating and/or consulting with First Nations on resource management issues.

Experience interpreting and applying natural resource management legislation and policy.

2 years of experience in each of the following, or a combination totaling 2 years:

Experience in conducting environmental monitoring and assessments.

Experience in field-based biological sampling, analysis and reporting.

Experience providing advice within a regulatory regime.

Experience and knowledge in various market sectors including water resources, infrastructure, transportation, oil and gas, mining, or hydroelectric

Superior verbal and written communication skills including your experience in writing proposals, technical reports and general project correspondence

Experience with GIS and skilled in Microsoft Office Suite®

Experience with benthic invertebrate sampling

Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal Environmental Legislation and permitting processes
