Junior / Intermediate Aquatic Biologist

THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly-motivated and enthusiastic Junior/Intermediate Aquatic Field Biologist to join a well-established team of environmental professionals based out of any of our office locations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting aquatic field programs and providing technical support to project managers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Work collaboratively within the Triton corporate culture.
• Provide technical leadership on the aquatic biology components of our projects within a team environment.
• Provide quality and independent review for projects.
• Manage, plan, and lead aquatic programs.
• Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of works and deliver quality reports on schedule.
• Liaise with on-site client representatives and contractors.
• Provide an understanding of environmental Best Management Practices and advise clients accordingly.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong technical writing, reporting, communication, team leadership and project management skills
• Superior problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box
• Experience with environmental monitoring and/or environmental inspection
• B.Sc. in biology or related field
• Multi-jurisdictional knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and permit application processes
• Valid driver's license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
• Technical knowledge in aquatics and fisheries biology
• Fish sampling experience, using various techniques
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• Appropriate professional designation such as R.P. Bio., P. Biol., or P. Ag. considered an asset
