Junior Computational Biologist

We have a position open for a remote, full-time Junior Computational Biologist. Tasks will include data manipulation and plotting, literature review and assistance with report writing. The position includes flexible working hours, an office allowance, and a Private Health Services Plan. Pay is commensurate with experience and expertise.

Experience/ training in computer science, biology, mathematics, statistics and/or ecology is required. Candidate must be a permanent residence of Canada or Costa Rica.

SalaryRange: $44,318 - $48,750

Responsibilities:

As aJunior Computational Biologistwith Poisson Consulting, some specific duties may include:

• Assist in the preparation of internally reviewed technical reports
• Analyze data on the impact of existing or proposed management or public practices on biology resources
• Write R scripts to clean, tidy and visualize data sets
• Conduct literature review to learn new statistical and programming skills relevant to research project
• Perform other related work as needed
• Develop databases to store current and historical data

Qualifications / Required Skills

·Bachelor’s Degree in a Natural Science

·Quantitative training

·Demonstrated academic achievement

·Computational and analytical skills, including proficiency with R

·Excellent communication, advanced English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills

·Fluent in understanding life science terminologies, statistics, programming, and logic

·Excellent presentational skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner

·Confident, execution-focused, and team-oriented to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment

·Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail in coding practices

·Able to complete tasks in a timely manner

·Team-oriented, focus and have the ability to work independently.
