Job Description
Your Role


1QBit is looking for a computational scientist to work on theoretical and experimental aspects of emerging analog and quantum-inspired devices and industrial applications. We are interested to hear from high caliber scientists who are excited to contribute to the various layers of the full stack of computing. 1QBit collaborates with its hardware partners, employing its expertise in classical, applied, and quantum computing to develop technologies that will enable scalable and applicable quantum computing.


What You'll Do


  • Develop and expand high performance computing infrastructure to run computational experiments and simulations
  • Design problem-specific algorithms and heuristics aiming to solve industrial problems, benchmark it on simulated and custom hardware, and build and analyze datasets
  • Take part in generating and presenting reports, drafting patents, authoring publications, and attending conferences
  • Work alongside academic, industry, and government partners to codesign algorithms and their hardware implementations in order to solve challenging computational optimization problems


What You'll Bring


  • Ability to communicate and collaborate well with team members with diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in solving complex computational problems using advanced operations research / computer science techniques, including decomposition algorithms, dynamic programming, heuristics, etc.
  • Master's or PhD in physics, operations research, computer science, or electrical engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Research independence: the ability to take responsibility and initiative to conduct your research working towards the team's common goal
  • Experience in modeling, benchmarking and optimizing real-world industry problems
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Rust, C/C++)


Nice to Have
  • Experience with high performance computing
  • A passion for quantum computing
  • Non-convex optimization techniques, including local search, Monte Carlo methods, etc.
  • A strong research track record demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and top-tier conference presentations
  • Metaheuristics and implementation, including simulated annealing, parallel tempering, genetic algorithms, etc.
  • Statistical methods for analysis of experimental datasets
  • Familiarity with:
