Job Description

ACTIVITIES:

  • Select best-in-class academic partners.
  • Build scope of work to develop cutting-edge electrochemical-based capture technologies portfolio.
  • Stay abreast of relevant technological developments and refine project scope of work when needed.
  • Adopt a balanced management style with partners to encourage innovation while maintaining the project on track and on budget.
  • Update electrochemical-based DAC technologies scouting and propose new projects/collaborations if relevant.
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance to partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Promote technical innovation internally and externally (through conferences, webinars and publications).
  • Conduct integrated assessments (Techno-Economic-Analysis and Life-Cycle-Analysis) with partners.
  • Travel to spend valuable face to face time with partners in North America (USA and Canada).
  • Define clear and measurable targets and milestones and the project organizational structure.
  • Promote HSE initiatives and ensure a strong awareness to HSE matters across partners.
  • Ensure technical excellence of proposed solutions and maintain a high standard of internal reporting.

CONTEXT & ENVIRONMENT:

developing and deploying to meet its net zero carbon ambitions. The flagship ONE R&D CCUS Program actively contributes to this ambition. Both CO2 capture from point source emitters and CO2 removal technologies are essential technological bricks required to respectively reduce our emissions and remove CO2 from the atmosphere. The ambition of the activities led by the job holder is to develop a low-cost highly efficient electrochemical-based CO2 capture technologies that can be deployed at large scale in coupling with renewable power sources to maximize the overall Green House Gas reduction or removal.

Candidate profile

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • As a visible point person in the US, maintain a high level of scientific competence, motivation and ambition acting as an ambassador of their leadership in the Net Zero Carbon energy future.
  • Anticipate the team resources and budget needs to achieve our objectives.
  • Ensure that partners and other stakeholders see them as a reliable and dependable leader.
  • Ensure effective technology learnings and transfer to our CCUS Program and various Business Units.
  • Responsible for building and delivering the R&D technology developments.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Key soft skills
  • Including minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in technical project management
  • Strong presentation and communications skill to showcase their technical excellence internally and outside
  • Ability to influence outcomes in a non-supervisory role with many stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in electrochemical-based technology developments
  • Innovative and pioneer spirit
  • Fluency in English
  • Technical leadership and organizational skills to coordinate a multi-disciplinary team towards innovation and customer-focused results.
  • PhD in chemical engineering – preferably with specialty in electrochemistry / electrochemical engineering
