Strong understanding and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage concurrent deliverables and work effectively in a challenging, high performance, team environment

Professional designation (CPA or equivalent) and public company experience are required

Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is an asset

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as well as ad hoc reports for management.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Accounting will effectively manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization.

Manage operational cash flow, including daily cash reporting, monthly reconciliations, and forecasting.

Accounting designation (CPA), or equivalent work experience

Experience working in a professional services environment is an asset

Strong knowledge of Excel including V lookup and pivot tables

Present Financial statements results and variance analysis on monthly and quarterly basis to management.

5-10 years of experience working in finance / accounting preferably at the Director or Controller level.

Other skills considered an asset includes experience with Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Power BI

Staying current with accounting, reporting, and taxation related regulations; practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements and industry trends;

Supporting the VP, Finance and other executives with other tasks

Post-secondary degree in Business specializing in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field.

Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

Prepare monthly financial statements for management review, identifying and addressing any errors or anomalies.

Post-secondary education in accounting or a related field, with a minimum of three to five years of accounting experience.

Manage and remit monthly HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) payments.

Strong knowledge of QuickBooks payroll.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ensure the effectiveness of cash management / treasury activities for the Company and all related entities

Manage and lead a team of Accounting & Finance colleagues:

Manage, maintain, and monitor all financial, cost, and operational controls and metrics

Manage the Company’s relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, and other service providers and professionals

Manage bi-weekly payroll and the maintenance of all employee files and records

Mentor and develop colleagues using a supportive and collaborative approach; assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and monitor and evaluate results

Provide financial advice and support to senior management

Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience

10 years of finance experience

Prepare the company's consolidated financial statements and public company reporting filings and other requirements

Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

Lead development and maintenance of finance accounting policies, processes, and best practices

Skilled in Productivity & Time Management

Collaborate with Accounting Manager and VP Finance to improve department functionality as well as quality and consistency of department output.

Assist managers as needed with client budgets.

Manage the preparation of monthly financial statements to ensure team portfolios meet process deadlines.

Assist and guide team on cash flow as needed by managers.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and Condominium Act requirements for financial statements
