This position reports to the Executive Director, Finance and will be located in either the Vancouver, BC, Ontario or Quebec in Canada or Boston, MA, USA location

This is a newly created varied leadership role that will involve building up systems including possibly a new ERP for scalability, setting a roadmap and elevating processes and financials for scalability! This is a role where you can really make your mark and help this organization move from R&D to commercializing recognizing sales, inventory and revenue! They already have an amazing team in place doing the day-to-day accounting operations and SOX reporting so truly a role to make an impact and lead.

What- the Role: We are seeking aDirector Accounting to support our company through commercialization!

The Director, Accounting is a key leader within the Finance team and is responsible for the oversight and management of the accounting function, including integrity of financial systems and accounting operations. This is a newly created key role to support the analysis and possible implementation of a new ERP system, creation of a strategic road map and processes as our organization moves from R&D to commercialization and a very rapid and exciting time of growth.

This position reports to the Executive Director, Finance and will be located in either the Vancouver, BC, Ontario or Quebec in Canada or Boston, MA, USA location; we may consider other locations for an exceptional candidate. This will be remote or hybrid depending on the location.

This role will have oversight of an already strong operational accounting team. We are looking for someone to come in and set things up to scale. Ideal is a candidate with a strong SOX and US GAAP foundation that has scaled and seen a company through commercialization in a relevant biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

The successful candidate will enjoy helping an organization scale and build and be able to operate well working with ambiguity as they are operating at a rapid pace.

OTHER IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

• Strong aptitude with financial tools and ERP systems; proven experience with ERP implementations and system enhancement projects
• Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is an asset
• Professional designation (CPA or equivalent) and public company experience are required
• Minimum of 10 years’ related accounting experience, with at least 5 years of direct people management experience
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements
