Chief Curator Jobs

Reporting to the Director of Creative of Experience, the Curator

•Support the Creative Experience team with grants, proposal development, and funding opportunities.

•Support the Creative Experience team with program ideas relating to the new exhibit.

•Curatorial experience is considered an asset.

• Experience working with local Indigenous communities.

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Strong organizational and project management abilities.

Oversee cataloging, documentation, and inventory management of the collection.

Work with the Beaverbrook’s education and public programs department to develop educational programs, workshops, and tours related to Canadian art.

Engage with the public and educational institutions to promote understanding and appreciation of Canadian art.

In-depth knowledge of Canadian art history, artists, and artistic movements.

Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to contribute to scholarship.

Tracks and manages loans and permits,

Manages the museum software database,

Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.

An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience

BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MUSEUM CURATOR, 1015 SERIES:

Tracks museum and archive property to include annual inventories,

A cover letter expressing interest in this particular position, giving brief examples of past experiences and salary requirement

Demonstrated experience in proposing and developing museum exhibitions and public programs.

Strong interest in science communication and outreach, with excellent public speaking skills.

International, cross-cultural, and/or Indigenous experience.

Knowledge of museum ethics standards.

Experience in plant conservation and sustainability initiatives.

A wide range of experience in volunteer management, community building initiatives, and stakeholder engagement?

Recruiting community members to join the platform to host an experience or to participate in an experience

Doing exploratory research to understand motivations & needs within Prince George and adapt offers & materials accordingly

Motivating, coaching & collaborating with community hosts on the platform to create engaging and inclusive experiences

Still highly technical and have at least staff-level coding skills at this point in your career

Marketing, and front-facing communications (in-person and digital) through social media, website, e-newsletter and digital communications;

University degree in Operations and Logistics Management (GOL) or other relevant education

Knowledge of LEAN management principles

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a logistics and purchasing function, in a manufacturing context

Support the physical management, care and preservation of the museum object collections.

Understanding of museum ethics and standards for collections management

Exceptional communication skills and experience with the general public, donor groups, press, external and internal stakeholders

Work within a cross-functional team to oversee the care, upkeep, and refreshment of core gallery experiences.

Knowledge of United States and Virginia history and material culture

Knowledge of principles and best practices of exhibitions and museum collections

Experience in public engagement and educational program planning and delivery in art gallery or museum settings

Excellent planning and time management, with the ability to multitask, and prioritize within a busy working environment

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

Degree or commensurate experience, professional and/or expertise in fine arts, liberal arts, curatorial studies or related arts

Knowledge of and strong interest in contemporary art, especially lens-based practices

Experience in event planning and production

Experience in landscape project management

Strong organizational and planning skills including demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task, set priorities, manage time dynamic schedules

Promotes the botanical gardens and horticulture initiatives through support of education and marketing efforts

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operations – Landscaping Architect Facilities

Minimum 5 years experience as a horticulturist

College Diploma in Horticulture or related post secondary education required.

Manage and organize company and client Spotify accounts and playlists

2-3 years of music industry experience working in curation and programming, or equivalent creative role

Quick learner, self-motivated, and able to manage deadlines

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must have some experience using Spotify

Ensure constant stream of new music and its distribution among company and client playlists

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.

Must have experience working with Pacific collections as well as artists, community members and stakeholders.

Active in professional associations and experience on boards of community organizations and other outreach work.

Knowledge of a Pacific Islands language is preferred.

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Ph.D. preferred, or M.A. with appropriate experience. Minimum of 6 years of museum-related work experience.

An Engineer with a strong financial & business acumen, project management skills and Knowledge of industrial maintenance and manufacturing equipment.

At least 10 years of related work experience

Liaises with artists throughout installation process.

Writes proposals to government agencies, private foundations, and individuals to fund the acquisition purchase and installation of works.

Researches, writes and edits material for publicity, website, publications and reports.

Attends meetings of the University Art Committee and Outdoor Art Subcommittee as a non-voting member
