Standard Biotools is looking for a Verification and Validation Engineer who as a part of a Product Development team will play an essential role in development of commercial mass cytometry systems. Working at the system level, the successful candidate will bring multiple modules together to form a cohesive whole, characterize product behaviour, and complete verification and validation tests. The successful candidate will develop, execute, and document system level verification and validation tests for Standard Biotools products under development as a critical part of new product introduction process. The V&V engineer will be a member of the systems integration team and interact with instrumentation scientists, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, SW engineers, technical writers, and production staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct V&V tests throughout product development and document results
  • Establish key knowledge of the system and transfer to field, production, support teams
  • In consultation with project scientists and project engineers (electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware and software) develop a set of tests that support verification and validation of Product Requirements and Technical Specifications for a given project
  • Automate tests and analysis
  • Evaluate, debug and troubleshoot product behaviour
  • Communicate with other test groups and technical writers to help transition from testing of products under development into commercial products
  • Perform routine maintenance activities on mass cytometry instrumentation
  • Analyze and document test results
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Highly self-motivated and independent critical thinker
  • Knowledge of gas and liquid sample handling systems.
  • Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Substantial hands-on experience in debugging and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical assemblies as well as experience in finding deficiencies in firmware and software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiar with cytometry, mass spectrometry and/or fluorescence microscopy systems.
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Systems engineering, Physics, or similar with a minimum of 3 years of experience related to electro-mechanical hardware and instrument control software.
  • Fast learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Motivation to find instrument deficiencies via testing and a drive to contribute to successful commercialization of mass cytometry instrumentation
