Standard BioTools Canada is looking for a highly motivated Verification & Validation Engineer to join our exciting mass cytometry team based in Markham, ON. You will play an essential role in development of commercial mass cytometry systems. Working at both the module system level, the successful candidate will bring up modules, systems of modules, characterize module & system behaviour, and complete verification and validation tests. The successful candidate will integrate systems, troubleshoot behaviour, and develop, execute, and document system level verification and validation tests for Standard BioTools products under development as a critical part of new product introduction process. The V&V engineer will be a member of the Systems Integration team and interact with instrumentation scientists, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, SW engineers, technical writers, and production staff.
Description:
  • Evaluate, debug and troubleshoot product behaviour
  • Establish key knowledge of the system and transfer to field, production, support teams
  • Automate tests and analysis
  • Assemble and prototype new hardware
  • Communicate with other test groups and technical writers to help transition from testing of products under development into commercial products
  • Perform, analyze and document test results to ensure compliance with requirements and/or technical specifications
  • Participate in risk management and FMEA activities
  • In consultation with project scientists and project engineers (electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware and software) develop a set of tests that support verification and validation of Product Requirements and Technical Specifications for a given project
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Familiar with cytometry or mass spectrometry is a plus.
  • Motivation to find instrument deficiencies via testing and a drive to contribute to successful commercialization of mass cytometry instrumentation.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and industry standard quality regulations (e.g. ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, ISO 14971, ISO 60812) and applicable product safety standards such as IEC 61010 and IEC 61326.
  • Highly self-motivated and independent critical thinker.
  • Fast learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Substantial in lab hands-on experience debugging and troubleshooting electrical assemblies, mechanical assemblies, firmware, and software.
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of gas and liquid sample handling systems.
  • Degree in Mechatronics or Electrical engineering, Physics, or similar with a minimum of 4 years of experience developing instrumentation, electro-mechanical hardware development, or instrument control software.
