Job Title: TA Mechanical Planner

Location: Fort McMurray (FIFO provided out of Edmonton and Calgary); camp accommodations provided

Rotation: 4/3 (Monday start)

Reporting to the Turnaround Planning Supervisoryour primary accountability will be to ensure all rotating equipment work related to Turnaround are planned for Upgrading & Utilities and ensuring company’s expectations are being met by all parties involved.

Responsibilities

• Report any injury or illness immediately
• Follow safe work procedures and ensure all comply
• Work with the Planning Supervisor and/or Coordinators to assign Level of Complexity to the jobs.
• Ensure all necessary updates and revisions to procedures and other documents are done (delegate as necessary through the Field Coordinators)
• Ability to interact with OEM, and Vendors and Contractors
• Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
• Support weekend coverage during the TA/Outage/Big Rocks preparation/execution window on an if required basis
• Comply with all Health and Safety requirements
• Create Field Execution Plans (FEP) for assigned Scope of work
• Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required
• Coach Junior Planners in the WO and planning process
• Perform detailed planning, resources estimation, and allocation, by scoping out each job through site visits and discussions/meetings with relevant stakeholders to determine the level of planning detail and documentation appropriate for each individual job.
• Develop Staging plan for required material, tools and equipment
• Work proactively with OEM, Vendors, and contractors.
• Develop execution strategy and work closely with Execution
• Provide preliminary estimates for work scope items to support the early budgetary and schedule estimates
• Report unsafe acts and conditions
• Identify & list out resources required for all related scopes including parts, labor, equipment, materials, special tools, procedures, critical lifts, documents and specialty contract services.
• Perform job walk / site verifications to ensure job packages are fully complete and satisfactory including all support Craft requirements
• Provide input for step listing development & P6 Schedule review
• Be a part of execution team during the execution window
• Develop work packages for mechanical/rotating/static equipment and piping work including identifying parts and services required to do the job and initiate the ordering process

Minimum Requirements

• Expertise in Planning, budgeting, and estimation
• Interprovincial Red Seal as a Pipefitter/Steamfitter, Millwright or Boilermaker, or a Technical Diploma or University Degree as a Mechanical Engineer or equivalent
• Assets include: Planning certification and leadership as well as Maintenance planning in an upgrader, refinery, or other industrial plant setting
• 7+ years of related industry experience in Planning
• Computer skills should include Maximo or equivalent CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite
