The Work


Treasury is responsible for managing the Bank’s market risk exposure and provide assessment of our products profitability. Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) is a mechanism that assists financial institutions understand product profitability and its contribution to the bank’s net interest income (NII). Equitable Bank is in the process of developing our FTP process and is looking for an analyst to join the development effort. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Director of FTP. The opportunity is ideal for a data analyst who has a desire to develop knowledge of treasury and move his/ her career towards a treasury analytics function.


Core Parts of the role Would be:


  • Support discussions on FTP approach for new products.
  • Work with development team in building FTP modeling
  • FTP Project management
  • Assess results and explain month over month variance of NIM results
  • Develop data workflow documentation. Document data sources and transformation rules for the data development team. Work with development team in building data feeds.
  • Document approaches for development, future validation, and audit
  • FTP System Development
  • Reporting and Analysis
  • Document FTP modeling approaches.
  • Maintain task schedule and monitor progress. Assist in carrying the project according to the established timeline
  • Collaborate with business units to understand data availability and assess data gaps. Gap assessment would include analysis to identify data quality issues. Work with business units to resolve data gaps (if any).
  • Develop reporting by product. Produce monthly product reporting packages
  • Validate modeling and data output.
  • Document FTP approach by product. Create Business Requirements Document (BRD) to be used by development team. Document will reference data sources, data transformations, FTP calculations and FTP data to be saved. Documentation should reference product level FTP as well as mismatch center FTP
  • Understand our data ETL process (Extraction, Transformation and Load)
  • Support the Finance Department on planning and budgeting of future NIMs. Support departmental questions on results. Support auditor and model risk audits and questions
  • Understand business unit products and how the product will be modeled within the FTP system
  • Assist in developing processes which support the monthly preparation of FTP reporting.
  • Develop FTP model for banking products that allow assessment of business profitability.
  • Provide insights to NIM trending
  • Build mismatch center analysis. This analysis would assess asset / liability mismatches, effectiveness of hedging, and duration transformation within the mismatch center. It should also calculate breakage on early exits from products.
Lets Talk About You!


  • Possess general understanding of accounting principles is ideal
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Understand ETL approaches and ability to handle complex data from various sources
  • Strong SQL skills to query, analyze, and manipulate data
  • Quantitative and analytical abilities required. This includes the ability to research approaches and develop statistical inference using the Bank’s proprietary data.
  • Demonstrate understanding of valuation of fixed-income and derivative instruments (e.g., bonds, mortgages, interest rate swaps and options)
  • Possess or progress towards a CFA designation considered an asset
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree, with a focus in Math or Computer science and/ or Finance
  • 3+ years of experience in banking, technology and/or Treasury functions with familiarity of valuation approaches and concepts

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
