Purpose of the position

Translate from English to French texts of various kinds, using a good knowledge of banking practices, the legal context, and fields such as economics, accounting, finance, information technology, insurance, investments, credit, marketing, human resources, etc.

Responsibilities

• Use translation tools appropriately to ensure consistency in the translated documents and increase efficiency.
• Communicate with the requestor as needed to obtain clarification of the mandate when all relevant details are not provided or when interpretation difficulties arise.
• Consult with department members on terminology used, collaborate with other department members on team projects for large scale work with tight deadlines and generally contribute to maintaining a harmonious work environment.
• Translate texts of various types, including economic, advertising and administrative texts. Ensure clarity of style and respect for the message conveyed by the source text and for deadlines.
• Ensure the highest quality of service to clients by ensuring that all service level commitments are met or exceeded.
• Performs the necessary research to ensure high quality translation and contributes to the department's terminology base on an ongoing basis.

Complexity of duties

This Position Requires

• At least five years of experience as a translator
• Excellent command of French and English
• Attention to detail
• OTTIAQ member, an asset
• Good knowledge of translation tools and the MS Office suite
• Works well independently or as part of a team
• Knowledge of the banking industry/products and services
• Bachelor's degree in English to French translation
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
