What You Will Be Doing

Linguists are key players at TransPerfect and Translations.com (TDC) Montreal for English into Canadian-French materials. Your particular language skill and subject matter expertise will allow you to create and finalize the end product before it goes to the client. Under the guidance of your manager and in collaboration with Project Managers, you’ll be responsible for translating and proofreading documents pertaining to a variety of clients or to a specific VIP client that caters to various brands in the Marketing and Communications sectors. TransPerfect offers the possibility to work hybrid from the office located in downtown Montreal or to work remotely if not nearby. This is an in-house role, not a freelance position.


Description

  • Make recommendations to your manager on ways to improve any processes, etc., as part of TDC Montreal’s commitment to continual improvement.
  • Keep Project Managers informed of project progress and meet client and internal deadlines.
  • Translate and/or proofread documents in your area of expertise.
  • Update style guides, glossaries, instructions and reference material and address issues as they arise.
  • Maintain and use translation memories and glossaries.
  • Complete administrative tasks in a timely fashion in support of your work and of the company’s KPIs.
  • Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for your role and assigned by your manager.
  • Be occasionally involved in providing feedback to and training new team members and vendors.
  • Occasionally represent the Linguistic Department by taking part in client-facing calls to gain a better understanding of client preferences
  • Juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Who We Are Looking For:

  • Positive attitude in the face of change, client-centered mindset and pro-active approach to problem avoidance and resolution.
  • Ability to support multiple projects and manage shifting priorities while keeping accurate track record of time allotted to each.
  • Acute attention to detail, spelling, and grammar.
  • Exceptional problem solving/critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in all situations, especially under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and cultural knowledge of target and source languages (English and French for Canada).
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and being comfortable working with various technologies and interfaces.


Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Solid experience with MS Office, Adobe software (i.e. PDF mark-ups), and CAT tools.
  • Experience translating and proofreading documents in one of the above-listed subject matters.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, Translation Certificate, or their equivalent.
  • Native fluency in Canadian French and near-native fluency in English.
  • Experience with other document sharing platforms is considered an asset.
  • Years of experience: junior (0-1); mid-level (2-4), senior (5+).

En tant que traducteur-réviseur, vous occuperez un poste essentiel au sein de TransPerfect et Translations.com (TDC) Montréal pour traduire des documents de l’anglais vers le français canadien. Vos compétences langagières et votre expertise particulières dans ce domaine contribueront à la réalisation du produit final avant sa livraison au client. Sous la direction de votre superviseur et en collaboration avec les gestionnaires de projets, vous aurez à traduire et à réviser des documents provenant de différents clients ou d’un client important particulier possédant diverses marques dans les secteurs du marketing et des communications. TransPerfect offre la possibilité de travailler de ses bureaux situés en centre-ville à Montréal ou à distance selon l’emplacement géographique.


Nous sommes présentement à la recherche de traducteurs-réviseurs de différents niveaux d’expertise (débutant, intermédiaire et confirmé) ayant des connaissances dans les secteurs du marketing et des communications.


Responsabilités

  • Tenir à jour et utiliser les mémoires de traduction et les glossaires.
  • Gérer de multiples projets et priorités dans un environnement en évolution rapide.
  • Traduire et réviser des documents dans votre champ d’expertise.
  • Effectuer des tâches administratives en temps opportun, à l’appui de votre travail et des indicateurs clés de performance (ICP) de l’entreprise.
  • Formuler, auprès de votre supérieur, des recommandations relatives à l’amélioration des processus, entre autres, dans le cadre de l’engagement de TDC Montréal envers l’amélioration continue.
  • Tenir les gestionnaires de projets au courant de la progression des projets et respecter les échéances internes et celles des clients.
  • Réaliser toute autre tâche considérée comme appropriée pour votre poste et que votre supérieur vous confie.
  • À l’occasion, fournir des commentaires aux nouveaux membres de l’équipe et prestataires, et assurer leur formation.
  • À l’occasion, représenter le service linguistique en participant aux appels directs avec les clients pour mieux comprendre leurs préférences, mettre à jour les guides de style, les glossaires, les instructions et les documents de référence, et régler les problèmes dès qu’ils surviennent.


Compétences requises

  • Très grand souci du détail, de l’orthographe et de la grammaire.
  • Capacité à acquérir de nouvelles compétences rapidement et à travailler confortablement avec diverses technologies et interfaces.
  • Attitude positive face au changement, état d’esprit axé sur le client et approche proactive en matière de prévention et de résolution des problèmes.
  • Capacité à faire preuve de professionnalisme en toute situation, surtout en cas d’échéance rapprochée.
  • Excellentes aptitudes en communication (tant à l’écrit qu’à l’oral) et excellentes connaissances culturelles des langues source et cible (anglais et français du Canada).
  • Capacité à prendre en charge plusieurs projets et à gérer des priorités changeantes tout en faisant un suivi précis du temps alloué à chacun d’entre eux.
  • Aptitudes exceptionnelles en résolution de problèmes et esprit critique aiguisé.


Expérience et qualifications requises

  • Au moins un baccalauréat, un certificat en traduction ou un diplôme équivalent.
  • Toute expérience avec d’autres plateformes de partage de documents est considérée comme un atout.
  • Expérience en traduction et en révision de documents dans l’un des domaines susmentionnés.
  • Nombre d’années d’expérience : débutant (de 0 à 1 an), intermédiaire (de 2 à 4 ans), confirmé (5 ans et plus).
  • Excellente maîtrise des logiciels MS Office et Adobe (marquages sur PDF) ainsi que des outils de TAO.
  • Parfaite maîtrise du français canadien et excellente maîtrise de l’anglais.
