Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Translation & Adaptation Services, the Translator will be primarily responsible for the translation of all descriptors for products featured on our website and in our stores. Translations will be performed from English to French. On an ad hoc basis, the Translator may be required to translate documents of a general nature and to assist the translation team during busy periods.


Primary responsibilities:


  • Keep abreast of language's usage and evolution by regularly consulting the specialized literature from the translation industry and from area of specialization.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure that translations are consistent across all platforms.
  • Translate product descriptions and documents from English to French for Sporting Life’s website
  • Ensure translations adhere to corporate image/brand as well as Quebec's language laws.


Secondary responsibilities:


  • Point out any discrepancies or problems with the original material that became apparent as a secondary result of the translation process, and therefore contribute to the quality of the source documents.
  • Perform other linguistic services, as necessary, such as interpreting French voice mail messages for English-speaking associates, recording French audio files, answering general language related questions from associates. Coordinate and assist with responding to requests received in French (questions and complaints, e-Commerce, e-Newsletters).

  • Pristine knowledge of French (Québécois). Strong knowledge of English.
