Job Description
GKD Industries Ltd. is a Calgary based ISO 9001:2015 certified company providing products and machining services focused on well stimulation, wireline and flow control equipment for the oil and gas industry.
We are currently seeking an experienced Team Leader - Production for our machine shop.
The Team Leader is a professional in charge of guiding, monitoring, and leading workers in the manual and CNC machining departments. They are responsible for motivating their teammates as well as inspiring positive communication and stimulating innovation, working together towards achieving the company’s common goals: Safety, Quality and Productivity.
Team Leader responsibilities include:
· Creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
· Setting clear team goals
· Planning work activities and communicating deadlines
· Providing hands on assistance at the machine, troubleshooting issues and providing solutions
· Ensuring required tooling, gauging and fixtures are available in advance of specific job setups
· Ensuring compliance with safety protocols/procedures including proper use of PPE
· Scheduling and assigning staff based on skillset to achieve maximum results – spindle utilization, on budget production and quality work
· Participating in root cause analysis investigations for non-conforming products and health and safety incidents
· Analyzing and auditing manufacturing processes to ensure quality, while maximizing efficiency and reducing waste.
· Confirming budgeted setup and run times are accurate, as well as job start and completion dates
· Assisting the production manager in maintaining all manufacturing equipment and company assets
· Facilitating training and development of employees
· Supporting the quality system through applied leadership, skill, and example
· Aiding in the development of and ensuring compliance to health and safety procedures, work instructions, and setup sheets
· Preparing reports and summaries as required
· Driving process improvement by working interdepartmentally, and with suppliers, to develop and implement the latest programming strategies, tooling and technologies
The Ideal Candidate will have minimum 5 years experience leading a team, and is able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience with manual and Multi-axis CNC milling and turning machines, as well as programming, set up is mandatory. Extensive metrology experience and experience with machinability of different materials including Corrosion Resistant Alloys is also required. You must have the ability to adapt to tight deadlines, while ensuring adherence to all safety rules and company policies.

Salary: $38.00-$43.00 per hour
