We are currently seeking a Team Leader, Accounts Payable. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, this position is an integral part of our dynamic Finance leadership team. This position will provide leadership and direction to the Accounts Payable team of three and will be responsible to develop and run a high performing accounts payable team. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, a problem solver and has a mindset of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
People Management
- Provide training and development to the Accounts Payable team
- Lead the team to be the trust worthy advisors for internal clients
- Help monitor team members’ success and reinforce team cohesion
Operation Management
- Become the owner of all Accounts Payable responsibilities
- Review and approve payment runs and check registers before acquiring final approvals
- Monitor incoming inquiries and ensuring all inquiries are addressed and resolved in a timely fashion
Project Management
- Identify opportunities to convert cheque payment methods to electronic methods
- Lead the team to complete special projects
- Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements and new technology to drive efficiencies through the streamlining and automating of processes and procedures
Knowledge Management
- Act as a strategic Finance leader by identifying problems at the source and seeking solutions that are consistent with the firm’s best practices
- Document and maintain policies and procedures for Accounts Payable;
- Act as a backup for other roles within the finance team as needed
Financial Analysis & Financial Management
- Complete other duties as assigned
- Review and analyze month-end reconciliations and vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Ensure proper controls, safeguards and segregation of duties are in place
- Use analytical skills and judgment to solve problems and deal with complex issues that require in-depth assessment
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and year-end activities
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an accounts payable role, professional services experience is considered an asset
- Excellent client service skills required to build and maintain client relationships
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills, a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a team player with excellent client service skills
- Experience with Thomson Reuter 3E is an asset
- Experience with AMEX @ Work is an asset
- Post-secondary education in accounting related field
- Experience with SAP Concur, ChromeRiver, Ariba or similar AP solutions is an asset
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated team leadership, including performance management
